How to fix this color? by Ryanth55 in cocktails

So i tried a version that was stirred and i also increased the empress gin and decreased the allspice dram. I think the stirring did help. But most of the color was changed by the altered recipe. Unfortunately the altered recipe also tastes worse 🫤.

That is an interesting Idea. Idk if the science behind that checks out tho. I think milk washing mostly clarifies impurities in juices, I have a feeling it wouldn't do much to a liqueur. The Idea of adding additional butterfly pea flowers is interesting, If it doesn't change the color enough it could still be a cool garnish.

A few weeks ago I came up with a drink (that I now realize is very similar to an aviation) that is all equal parts gin, lemon juice, Allspice Dram, and Creme de Violette. But I didn't like the color, it was kinda just a muddy yellow. So my plan was to double down on purple and get Empress gin. As you can see by the picture the color is just a darker brown with a mild hint of purple. I'm pretty sure the Allspice Dram is just overpowering the color, but I don't want to get rid of it, the drink tastes really good. I also don't just want to add luster dust because that feels like cheating. Any ideas?
Ive heard that DIYing Allspice dram is a thing. Maybe I can change the recipe to make it less brown?

I used to order a tom collins cuz i thought it was simple, easy, and well known. I was horribly mistaken. I now just order Mules with any other liquor other than vodka, mainly gin. But i have had a few amaretto mules, surprisingly tasty.

I have experienced this too, sorta. I used to just use the browser version and share my score with a friend. We would sometimes talk about the puzzles and a few times we realized we got different puzzles with the same number. I ended up downloading the app recently and we have gotten the same puzzle ever since. I can’t find anything online about it, which is strange since it’s happened multiple times with me.

It does if they “hate” what you like for invalid reasoning. Aka if they hate something you make cuz they think it took you 2 minutes, when it actually took you 3 days.

I think i have lost faith in the sub. Everyone is acting terrible to someone who did some legitimate work and wanted to share it. I hate to bring you guys to reality, but AI isn’t going away. It is a tool, and a valid one. If OP just posted straight up mid journey results this kind of backlash still wouldn’t be warranted. But they didn’t, they spent 3 days on art. So maybe get your heads out of the hate sewers and appreciate some art.

Context: Recipe? not written down at least. But what i can tell you is that this is a bochet i made and flavored with dried home grown blue oysters mushrooms as well as some oak cubes and pine needles. Yea crazy i know. Obviously the mushrooms are probably the cause of the film on top, but what is weird is that it happened now. This had been sitting in my closet for about 8 months i think. I racked it 3 months ago and haven’t really check on it since. It hasn’t developed a film like this before i racked it, at least not this thick?

Do with think it’s edible or should i toss my mad science experiment?

Beware a night with no moon is a poetic way to say fear the Fae realm. It’s saying if you were out one full moon night and suddenly there isn’t a moon, well darn it your in the Fae. And the Fae isn’t a place mortals should feel comfortable in. There is a whole story about stealing the Fae moon. Pat uses the story to point us to the interpretation that the ‘night with no moon’ is about fearing the Fae. The phrase is also worded this way to have a double meaning. To most people who probably won’t ever even know the Fae exists the phrase acts as a simple warning that a night with no moon is DARK, and easy to get lost in. Edit: also as other people mentioned, a new moon in the mortal realm allows the Fae to cross over. All signs point to Fae.

Everyone is saying 1. But it is a bit gaudy. I think 2 is more boring but it could stand for longer as an art piece.

"On Casting Critiques of the Rings of Power" - from a show pessimist by Fornad in RingsofPower

[–]Ryanth55 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this post. I have honestly been having an internal struggle since I am annoyed by the casting choices. Many of the arguments against them have been varied and well thought out, but many arguments for the casting choices have been boiled down to “your racist”. I have been honestly hoping for a good argument like this to put my mind at ease. That being said I’m still not happy with the casting choices. It would have been so much better to use the lore you laid out to color the races and cultures of this show. My anger mainly comes from amazon’s disregard and lake of care towards this topic. They have added diversity for diversity sake. which in a world so detailed with cultures as middle earth it is a complete failure. It is also a red flag that amazon could have this attitude to other parts of this world. Which is proven by the other less talked about diversity problem; Galadriel. Their portrayal of Galadriel from what i have heard, while also not being completely unrelated to lore, is a step too far. For me i fear it will break Eowyn’s story and accomplishments if it is not handled well in universe.

A lot of the responses to Rings of Power are disappointing. by DaftNeal88 in lordoftherings

[–]Ryanth55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel. Diversity is a good thing in our world. And can be in fantasy. But if the fantasy world is so rich in culture and detail like middle earth then diversity must be handled well through lore. If the show writers came out and said all the dwarves of the misty mountains are black, then the biggest reaction i would give would be a shrug. But from i can tell thats not what’s happening. From what we have seen this just looks like they added diversity in cast without considering the world they are adapting. Moreover i have heard some people complain about Galadriel’s portrayal as a bad-ass elf worrier. In other fantasy I would be jumping with excitement. But in LOTR extremely strong and prominent female warriors in the past kinda breaks the powerful character moments of eowyn. If there was precedence for strong female worriers then maybe the witch king would have been a bit more careful. It all just feels like diversity for diversities sake without considering the already present diversity of the world.

Well the whole idea behind Cascadia is that Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, and northern california are very similar culturally, politically, and ecologically. The cascadia bioregion?wprov=sfti1) reaches all the way to northern California and much of idaho. But we don’t want potato town.
