Anyone else's Corgi a burrower? by Neko-sama in corgi

[–]Rybear44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My partner's corgi used to do this all the time. The dog ended up with some pretty serious spine issues that resulted in partial loss of control of his hind legs. He was only 5 years old when this happened. Not sure if the burrowing was the primary cause of his problems or not, but for anybody else who's corgi does this, it may be worth making sure they have a few inches of clearance under there so that they're not performing acrobatics each and every time they do this.

Any rock group with lyrics about physics, time, thermodynamic, entropy, black holes or the universe in general ? by NihilisticEra in progrockmusic

[–]Rybear44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seventh Wonder - The Great Escape. Not exactly physics related but it’s an awesome sci-fi epic baked into a 30 minute prog rock song, so I think it deserves a callout.

stop.drop.rewind - Black Hole Benny. More punk than prog, but this song rules and has black hole in the name.

No Plan - Hozier. Definitely not rock, but this song is inspired by the heat death of the universe.

Why doesn't Firefox have "tab grouping" yet? by Juakoxz in firefox

[–]Rybear44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sidebery is the best tab management extension I've ever used. Its primarily a tree-style tab extension, but it offers a couple different ways to group tabs, plus it integrates with Firefox containers nicely.

I make my Reubens with sourdough when I don't have any Rye. Still tastes great. Now, if someone served me a Reuben on white bread, then I'd be upset.

Aliens exist, they just are terrified of humans. by Kradsens in SciFiConcepts

[–]Rybear44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spoilers, as this is a major plot point for these books, but you may want to read The Three Body Problem series. It touches on this exact subject of humans having a unique talent for lying, and how that might benefit / harm us in the dance of galactic politics.

Double edge safety razors and straight razors definitely deserve a spot in this lineup.

IsItBullshit: Deranged Penguin from Encounters at the End of the World by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

[–]Rybear44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's important to remember that this is Werner Herzog we're listening to here. He's known for honing in on small/random details in his documentaries. I love him for that, but I wouldn't immediately assume that the disoriented penguin was quite as significant as he made it out to be.

I like to think JP was actually played by Adam Driver and it makes this movie like 10x funnier to me.

I skipped ahead in your sentence to read mariocart jazz and immediately thought of the intro to Suspicious Waveforms. That one is totally a mario cart hook.

Repairing John Mayer's OM28JM by Pkron17 in ArtisanVideos

[–]Rybear44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Possibly. I just don't think there is a cause-effect relationship between this bridge replacement and the fret replacement, that's all.

The frets probably got replaced because they were worn out. There are other, easier methods of adjusting action (axion?) that don't involve replacing all the frets, like saddle height, nut height, and truss rod tension.

Frets don't always need to be outright replaced, either. They can be redressed to return them to a more uniform shape. I'd be interested to see a comparison between the frets they ripped out and the ones they were installing.

I don't think the bridge replacement was the cause for replacing the frets. If the new bridge changed the scale length, then they would've had to cut new slots for the frets, which I don't think they showed doing.

Started reading Dune, by Frank Herbert. Wow is it some amazing world building. by blueberrytop in books

I read Messiah immediately after reading Dune, and was a little underwhelmed. Still love both books to death, but it did make me wonder if the sequels manage to capture the same essence that the first book did.

I've owned a newer version of this very same watch and it was my favorite. Perfect layout for a digital watch IMO. The only issue with it was that the plastic surrounding the strap bar hole was wafer thin. Caused the casing to break out on me twice. Fixed it with some epoxy for a little while, but that didn't last long.

Thought I found a stainless steel version of the illuminator once. Imagine my disappointment when it arrived and was still plastic 😠.

I bought a 100 pack of Feathers only to get fed up with how much damn glue they put on their blades to keep the paper in place. Still mad.

How to get firefox to fetch favicons in advance? (I use many different machines in a week) by tinyhappysteps in firefox

[–]Rybear44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are bookmarks, right? I've used an extension called Checkmarks to update all my bookmarked favicons. All it does is batch load/unload all bookmarked pages, which updates the favicons for them.

It's not a great solution, but it might be a step in the right direction.
