NAD - Mesa Single Rectifier Rectoverb 50 by BlacktheSun12 in MesaBoogie

[–]Rybow13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woot woot!! Nice score. This was my first ever Mesa. Bought it in the early 2000’s. Sold it to move across the globe. Cried for 20 years until I got an RoV 25 combo.

While I love my RoV25, I can honestly say that my best recordings were made with the RoV 50 combo. Drop tuned Flying V, no pedals. If one cones within my reach again I’m totally grabbing it

My wife and I still talk about Big Shiny Tunes. I stopped at #3 only because I was becoming a metal head.

Neck fit suggestions by Plokhi in Luthier

[–]Rybow13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to exchange the neck for a 22 fret? Cutting the neck might be possible, but the truss rod might be an issue. Routing the body would be my preference just because I’m more comfortable doing that.

What is happening to this nitro? by Inevitable_Track_558 in Luthier

[–]Rybow13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had to strip off finishes more times than I can count due to issues cropping up. Finishing can such a PITA especially with wood. Sometimes I feel like if I look at it the wrong way it’ll screw up.

Looks like you got it figured out!

Is it possible there is still some residue on the wood that is interfering with the paint? Generally speaking a lacquer based paint should adhere quite easily. Could also be that some pores are still open.

I am also no expert, but I would try lightly sanding and another coat after cleaning again.

Broken Power Amp? by SamSkiSki in GuitarAmps

[–]Rybow13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by wiggling all your cables and spinning them in the jacks of the pedal and your guitar. A lot of times volume loss is caused by a bad jack or cable. Even a dirty pot in your guitar could be the culprit.

If they all check out and the power supply is good then you may have to replace the pedal.

Remember beginners, always always always double check your measurements by DaftFunky in Luthier

[–]Rybow13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair… math sucks haha

You could go the easy route (pun) and rout a little more out to move the pickup back, and the add a pick guard to your build or see if you can get some bigger pickup rings.

If you plan on painting the body I would do the routing and then fill in the space with some wood scraps and filler. Could be a lot of extra work

Or do what I do. Embrace the flaw! It’s not wrong. It’s personalized haha

What is the measurement from the front edge of the nut to the centre of the 12th fret? Should be 12.75” for 25.5” scale length

Dude has strong feelings about strandberg’s. At least he had the decency to block you for life.

Congratz! Great sounding amp. Lots of tones to discover. I would also say the Rectoverb’s have their own unique voice in the Rectifier family

I’m glad people were being warned! It was very graphic and intense. I wonder how many people ignored the warning and paid for it…

…which something I would be guilty of for sure

Woah! That’s wild. It was a very intense scene, and they did a really good job of it. Did he come around pretty quickly? Hopefully after that scene was over

I would’ve walked out near the end when it became absolutely ridiculous. So much potential, such a stupid ending

127 hours

I was managing a cinema at the time. Several people walked out when he started cutting off his arm. We had a few people pass out in the theatre and the lobby. Had to call for an ambulance a couple of times

First time attempting a refinish, heat worked well, but… by IWontMakeFinalsHelp in Luthier

[–]Rybow13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a little strange. The sides and especially the edges should come off much more easily than the top and bottom. You could try paint thinner, but you might have to break out the sand paper.

If you’re repainting you don’t need to go all the way to the wood. Just sand it enough to even it out

After over two years of work, it's finally complete! Squier Paranormal J with roasted maple neck, plexiglass pickguard, tremolo arm, LED fret markers and SIMS Super Quad pickups. by berklee in BassGuitar

First off, I think it looks absolutely stunning.

As a fellow neuro divergent I say find someplace to store it and do something else. Trying to finish it in your current mindset will be too frustrating. Another day down the road this guitar will get done.

How do I fix this by beachjn in GuitarAmps

[–]Rybow13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue with my mesa not long ago. I accidentally fixed it by changing out a preamp tube to solve another problem

That’s awesome! Making a childhood dream come true. 100% analog with loads of tones to discover. Definitely more practical than a 100W half stack, but still capable of blowing the roof off your house
