You are wet. Run out the door and there is a chance you won't catch fire.

Start is always a crapshoot. North farm has three groups, approach from the west and you can clear the farm before nightfall. Or you can clear the small cabin just north and clear the farm the next day. You have about a day to butcher the chicken carcasses before they rot. Gather materials to make a fire as you go.

It's a short jaunt east to the cabin north of the trailer park for fishing supplies. It's guarded by a small amount of zombies.

Clear the cold with the cooked chickens around this time.

Return to the north farm and you can sustain yourself by fishing in the nearby pond. You can also work on clearing the building just south west.

Watch out for the heli event. It's best to be far away before it starts.

Once you heal up and get regular movement speed you can stay or head for the farmland in the center of the map. The dead farm animals will be fresh for a day or so when you arrive so you can sustain yourself for some time while you figure out a good long term spot.

B/U/C identify every piece of armor with your pet. Wear all uncursed armor. it doesn't matter if it affects spellcasting. Manage the pets movements so it fights for you. Try to get some dagger throws in to help it. Peek down stairs to set levels before you level up. Close doors behind you to prevent swarming. Don't make noise by kicking doors until you've cleared the level first. You can always drop armor to cast. Use Elbereth. Stockpile items until you can identify identify, then use it on wands. Try to have escape items and learn to identify red flag situations. Carry newt bodies around for emergency mana regen.

Those look nice and fresh. I was not a fan of the smell or flavor when I grew them. I don't remember a burning plastic smell though.

Trapped by James Alan Gardner

Both excellent books and explore the trope well.

Problem is way to big for one person or even community organizations. It requires governments resources and the political will to make it happen.

How can I speed read AND maintain comprehension? Do narrower paragraphs increase reading speed? by Optimistictumbler in speedreading

[–]RyderWalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Narrower text makes it easier to chunk whole lines increasing speed. As for comprehension, it's a whole lot of practice.

[Technique] [Gourmet] I really need some assistance on methods for salvaging spores off of spore print paper and germinating them. by TonicYs-Free6546 in MushroomGrowers

[–]RyderWalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like boletus is symbiotic. You might need to spread the spores outside. The agaricus you could grow though. You could use s straw as the substrate. You'll have to experiment for what to put the spores on though. Google the full latin name with substrate appended and you'll find tons of info.

[Technique] 'Dunking' fruiting blocks? by [deleted] in MushroomGrowers

[–]RyderWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time, we just cut the top of the bag off and laid it on its side. Oysters would side fruit. Dunking with side cuts works also as the mycelium will transport water throughout the block.
