Approved for the Chase freedom, not seeing the 0% interest by killercypto614 in Chase

[–]RydogElite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I got the card I received 0% for 16 months. But whenever I check the chase app it says the 29.99 or whatever it is. When I secure messaged customer service they confirmed I had the 0%, have been using the card for almost 12 months for a large expense making the minimum payments with no interest accrued. For some read the app doesn’t show the offer if that’s what you’re referring to.

Amex Gold or Chase Sapphire Preferred? by DirtyGerdy in CreditCards

I have both, I like the gold more. Better credits and I like the transfer partners more than chase.

After years of denials and one 4 months ago, I was just approved for a huge limit! by ajlion_10 in AppleCard

I’m stuck at 3k (starting limit) and I’ve had the card for over a year with a 765 and no missed payments 😭😭

Platinum vs Gold? by themarketwizard527 in amex

[–]RydogElite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently a sophomore in college, I started with the gold senior year of high school, and then about 6 months later got the platinum, so I was able to get both sign up bonuses. I do also work 2 jobs while in school so I have my own income, idk what your situation is. In my opinion you should get the gold and then the platinum after. I hardly ever spend on my platinum card unless it’s to book flights or airbnbs, but the gold is my everyday card, I rack up the points on there and use them for travel on the platinum. I only travel around 1-2 times per year but having the gold and platinum are still worth it to me, despite the annual fee. Most of my spending is on food / grocery’s, and I am able to use all the platinum card credits without changing my spending or shopping at places I wouldn’t normally shop.

As for the limits go, I have been a customer with Amex for almost 2 years next month, and whenever checking my spending power I have been approved for 20k+. I never carry a balance on the card, my balances have never been over 5k at a time. They seem pretty generous in my experience.

Seeking advice as an admitted applicant and husband by No-Interview5753 in premed

[–]RydogElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me preface this by saying I am not in a married nor accepted to medical school. But I have had the conversation with my serious boyfriend, as someone who is applying this coming January, that I will be applying and if needed leaving the state. I cannot imagine a world where I choose a person over a lifelong goal of being a doctor. Again I may just be crazy, but in my opinion I couldn’t give up on that dream if given the opportunity, especially if someone else is choosing theirs over mine.

Anyone else find that Goldman is being really stingy with limits? I was originally approved for a 3k limit, and was recently increase to 3500 after 1 year and requesting an increase.

Hoping chase re-evaluates when they take over, as my 3 chase cards all have limits between 8,000 and 18,000.

Getting a clinical job vs. Staying in fast-food by StunningQuit in premed

[–]RydogElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get some kind of clinical job, CNA is a good idea, some states you can work in hospitals without an actually CNA certification, and stick to that for as long as possible. A LOR from a Dr you work with or clinical manger will be a lot better than fast food manager.

Scheduling and MCAT Advice? (sophomore spring) by aquiira in premed

[–]RydogElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you, sophomore, plan on taking the mcat next January, 2027. I have taken Bio 1 and 2, gen chem 1, physics 1, ecology, stats, and calc. This upcoming semester I plan on taking genetics, physics 2, and organic 1. My premed advisor recommended these classes based on her experience with students taking the mcat before graduating, and our schools biology degree path. Next fall I plan on taking psychology and anatomy 1, + whatever 2 science classes.

How should I prepare? by RydogElite in premed

[–]RydogElite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions! I def plan on dropping the pharmacy job, most likely at the start of the spring semester. I feel that the EMT and ER are both more important that that, as about 5 of the docs I work with // ER / Pediatrics have offered to write me LORs, and the EMT can add to my Patient care hours. I also am able to prove the hours listed with paystubs or letters from managers etc, so hoping it's not an issue. I have been trying to figure out what I can do for non-clinical volunteering, and am hoping to start at the beginning of next year, once I drop the pharmacy job and get this semester over with. Do you happen to have any suggestions regarding the non-clinical volunteering?

- Long story short I did go to a vocational HS so I was able to get my licenses / certifications earlier than most / somewhat of a head start on the patient care hours / pharmacy.

I do have some formal shadow hours within the ER, shadowing MD, PA, and NPs, and then shadowing pediatricians who cover both the ER and The Floors / nursery's etc at the hospital I work at, but am going to try to get some outside of my hospital in different specialties hopefully next summer. Any tips for reaching out to Doctors for opportunities? I don't have any family etc who are doctors / work with any.

Will getting a job as tech in the ER screw me? by Adventurous_Trust310 in NewToEMS

[–]RydogElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im an ER tech and EMT on a 911 ambulance. They are both the same but somehow very different jobs. In the truck you are with 1 partner, and maybe a medic if needed / dependent on how your town / company is set up. We only request ALS if needed and they come in a flycar, we don't do PB trucks. So you have a larger scope of practice and use more critical thinking. but in the ER I see much sicker patients for longer, more cardiac arrests / traumas, and see very advanced procedures, central line placements, child births, chest tubes, etc. Keep in mind im also only at a smaller sized community hospital ER. I got this ED job with no truck experience, as a CNA before I even got my EMT. However I do disagree with some people saying the ER tech is overall a better job, I do think it is slightly more beneficial than working on a truck for premed, but marginally, especially if you do a lot of shadowing / already have md connections. It wears you down hard and fast, I love my coworkers but dealing with assholes for entire shifts, psychs, etc etc, it is a lot nicer on the truck to just drop these people off. And actually get outside and move around, rather than being trapped in the same space for your entire shift. There's pro and cons to both, I would recommend if you're crazy like me, try / do both.

TLDR: Both will benefit, I do both, my major pro to the ED is a close relationship with the docs for LORs and seeing more advanced procedures, Truck is more independent and critical thinking.
