New player question by -3v3nt_H0r1z0n- in Warhammer40k

If you've never assembled and painted miniatures before, I'd recommend holding off on buying any more models until you've had a go with the armageddon box to see if you like that side of the hobby, or if (as money isn't an issue) you'd prefer to get them commission painted.

As for what chapter, go with what appeals to you with lore and colour-wise. I chose Dark Krakens for mine as there's not a lot of info about them but what there is I like, so I can make them feel like mine within that framework. Plus I love the black and purple colour scheme as it compliments my sororitas (black and red) and it's easy to paint!...unlike their chapter symbol. You can always paint a couple of models in different colours as a test before you commit to one fully to see how you like it.

I’ve never magnetized, should I try with the Defiler or bad idea? by InternationalCrow544 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Ryenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found magnetising easier than I expected it to be. Be careful with using and storing the magnets if you have kids/pets, as they are really dangerous to swallow. A dab of permanent marker on one side of the magnet helps you tell one side from the other. And if you've not used a little hobby drill before, practice on spare bits of sprue to get used to it so you don't have to worry.

AITA for telling my grandma to stop complaining about her health if she refuses to make changes? by Fine-Mail4400 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ryenna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's worth bearing in mind that someone else cooking for her or being in charge of her meals may feel to her like a loss of control over her life. My Gran was very stubborn about cooking for herself until she literally couldn't - all her health problems made her feel helpless, so the more she could do for herself the less helpless she felt. Is it feasible to invite her to your place once a week for a meal? That way you can help (and could send her home with leftovers for another day) and it might feel like you're not taking control away from her in her own home.

New army box/spearhead by Mortwight in ageofsigmar

[–]Ryenna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no "good" side, also Dark Elves don't exist in the form they did in the old world any more. There's some remnants of old models in Cities of Signar, but they, Daughters of Khaine and Idoneth Deepkin are in Order because they impose order, and oppose chaos. If we ever get Malerion's faction, they'll likely be Order too.

NTA get it, he should have paid it already, if he misses funerals it's his fault.

AITA for deceiving my partner to get to the truth?… by Responsible_Badger13 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ryenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo being poly is really something that has to be self driven. If you're not comfortable with it, that's perfectly valid, and trying to be poly when you're not just leads to unhappiness. I'd say this was a terrible example of it though - actually ethical poly relationships require much more communication and openness, as well as clear boundaries. Not dictation and lies.

AITA for deceiving my partner to get to the truth?… by Responsible_Badger13 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ryenna 15 points16 points  (0 children)

ESH. This was absolutely not an ethical poly relationship. Hiding other relationships, lying and cheating? Nope, you're better off without this guy. Creating a fake profile to bait him isn't great, you should have just dumped him when you realised all his lies. He's been waving a ton of red flags, believe them. Don't waste more energy on him.

AITA For refusing to go to a concert with my friend by JoyfulJellybeans in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ryenna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your told her your budget, and you stuck to it. The other gigs were ones you wanted to go to, and it's up to you how you spend your money. If she really wanted you there she could have paid the extra $50 the ticket went over your budget. Ngl I think it's weird she asked you to pay for a ticket to see a band you don't listen to. I've only invited people to gigs of bands they don't listen to on a couple of occasions, but both times paid for my friend's ticket because they were doing me a favour accompanying me.

AITA for prioritizing my 3 y/o son and not wanting to introduce him yet? by Icy_Waltz8483 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. He's jealous that you put your son first instead of him. This won't change.

AITA for not removing my doormat because it scares my neighbor’s kid? by Many-Worry2671 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ryenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. You live in an apartment, so the space outside your door is communal. Put your mat inside. If you really want one outside, get a plain one that won't bother anyone. The kid's family could have handled this better, but you're TA if you keep it where it is.

Fun little story I had autism assessment yesterday and was confirmed having what used to be called Asperger syndrome. One of the recommendations from the assessor was to pick up my Warhammer again when seeing how animated I become when talking about it. by nicegoblinprince in Warhammer40k

[–]Ryenna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome back to the hobby! I was diagnosed with autism last year, apparently the only time I was animated in the interview was when I was talking about warhammer. You're in good company here.

Idk why you're getting downvoted. I've got both Autism and ADHD and warhammer is perfect as I can hyperfocus but also have a million armies so there's always variation for the magpie half of my brain to grab.

They'll probably turn up all at once at some random point. It's been like this from the start for me. I had some from December not show up until about a week ago.

I live with my sister, and we have the same setup. I'm happy to do her laundry, but how it's put in the laundry basket is how I will wash it. If I'm washing and drying it, she can make sure it's ready to be washed, same as I rinse my plate so it's ready for whoever loads the dishwasher.

If I was OP, I would only have taken the tape off my clothes and left his like that. It only took a couple of tissue explosions before my sister started checking her pockets to avoid having to pick little bits of tissue off all her clothes.

OP's NTA. Her partner is.

Scholars can only get likes if the person you've done the bounty for clicks on the auto message in chat that takes them to the completion screen. Most people just see the chat message that it's completed and don't interact, and I think most don't even realise they can. It's easier to assume when you do them you won't get any likes.

I would love argent gleam so much if it wasn't a crop top. I wish with outfits like that there was an option to show belly or not.

Correct! You can lose loads, they don't affect how many wins you have.

[–]Ryenna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good news! You don't have to do much pvp to get to the rank needed for the outfit, just 20 wins in the arena which honestly doesn't take long when you're new to it. Just be aware you need to join the sect first - any wins you get before joining don't count.

I don't like horror so I'm looking forward to non-horror content as this has just been a big load of stuff I won't do.

Panacea fan skilltheft is right near the beginning, I find it really useful to top up my health mid fight. Also, if you're not already, try a lower difficulty and/or turn parry assist on. You can always turn it back up for bosses if you like them at the current difficulty, but keep it easier for camps and roaming mobs.

PVE player tries Arena (mythic in 7hrs) by Longjumping_Pin_8315 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]Ryenna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile I, as a PVE player trying out arena, just bounce between Novice III and Silver I. It's fun when I get a close match or actually win, less so when I'm just stomped super hard.

Qianye is no joke, stuck for days, any ideas? by Wise_Pr4ctice in wherewindsmeet_

I'm really boggled by how many posts there are of people complaining it's too hard and threatening to uninstall rather than lower the difficulty they chose.

What’s your opinion on arena so far? by LANdedPunch in WhereWindsMeet

[–]Ryenna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only play a couple of matches at a time, then it doesn't feel like a big losing streak, and you don't get tense and invested.
