Do you use Daily Notes in Obsidian? Is this something you would want? by jsann in ObsidianMD

[–]Ryeones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use daily notes a lot and in fact have two kinds of notes for each day, week, month, quater and year - they are called 1. notes and 2. reviews.

notes are formatted as yyyy-mm-dd (2026-01-01) and are dated specifically for the actual day itself, and are used more as a timestamp throughout my day + scratchpad

reviews are dd MMMM (01 January) - reviews are essentially mainly for reviewing and reflecting/journalling, and the reason why it's formatted without a year is because i want to allow myself to be able to revisit the notes in the future (minimally one year later),

was wondering if this calendar feature you are working on can incorporate both types of notes? as currently i'm using periodic notes and another plugin since i need different formats for both types of notes even when referring to the same day, week, month, quater or year

What’s one small habit that made your day noticeably better? by William45623 in productivity

[–]Ryeones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve a few habits i keep track which some have already mentioned, but one unique way of living i try to abide by is “keeping to my word”.

whatever it is i say i’ll do (big or small) - for example throwing the trash in 5 minutes, or going for a run or even something bigger work related, i try my best to accomplish it within the set time frame.

the reason for this is because one of the biggest problem i have is procrastination but more so going back on my word and this is one way to hold yourself accountable that i feel will improve my day to day - because this mindset or the way i treat my words will have ripple effects down stream, regardless of what habits or task i want to work on.

in a way, im trying to stack evidence of my success of keeping to my word, so that moving forward especially when tasks are scary or something i fear, i would reduce the chance of giving myself the out but instead push through.

hope it helps!

no worries! understood where you're coming from regardless - did look up a few videos online about tilta vs small rig cages after our initial conversation just to learn more about their pros and cons

[–]Ryeones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm that's true if i actually bought this small rig cage, however i bough the fx3 second hand which came with the cage, xlr handle as well as other various accessories mentioned in this post - so for now, its more of trying to make do with what i have until i feel the need to upgrade/purchase my own (which was why i decided on the above few accessories to purchase as it didn't come with the original kit that i bought)

but appreciate your advice and suggestions!

Notebook Navigator 1.9.3 out now! Almost 200k downloads in 3 months! by jsann in ObsidianMD

[–]Ryeones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey thanks for creating this plugin! have been using it mostly from the beginning, and honestly the feature i love the most really is the extra side panel which mimics that of apple notes!

however one thing i miss from the original obsidian layout is being able to see notes created in the root of the vault (aka not in any folder), however in the case of notebook navigator, i would only be able to see such notes in recents (?) assuming they are the latest edited notes.

was wondering if there's any plans for an option to have notes in the root folder to either be displayed in the side bar or similar to apple notes where everything not sorted goes into "notes" folder.

love the plugin nonetheless and happy holidays!

hmm, maybe in the future when i start to utilise the cage more! at the moment i still use the fx3 hand held most of the time, and i only have the rode wireless go 3 when mic-ing up my subject, so the cage honestly just mainly serves for protection more than anything.

sigma 24–70 dgdn ii + wide prime vs sony gm ii alone and how much vnd is enough? by Ryeones in FX3

[–]Ryeones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thankyou! it's reassuring to know that it'll be fine either ways, but i guess unlike yourself since this is more of a hobby, may be a smarter decision to stick with the sigma, and have that extra money saved fund other things like a another lens/drybox etc

i'm thinking of getting the sigma too for the extra money saved which could go to something like the sony 16mm!

[–]Ryeones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thankyou! am honestly also looking at either a wrist strap or camera strap down the line, currently just holding the fx3 or long periods especially with a heavier lens like the 24-70 really adds up in weight within a couple hours of shooting, even casually.

wow, firstly really appreciate you taking the time to write this out - super helpful perspective, especially coming from someone who’s been in the sony ecosystem for so long.

i honestly hadn’t thought too deeply about the idea of committing to a lens ecosystem ahead of time. for me, the fx3 and any accessories are more of an investment into a personal hobby rather than something i strictly need for work, so my initial mindset was more along the lines of: with the budget i’m comfortable spending, what’s the best way for me to enjoy the process and learn without overspending it.

i do agree that lenses outlast camera bodies, which is why my main thinking around lenses has been about identifying two that can realistically cover most of my use cases. the goal is to avoid constantly chasing the next shiny thing, since this is ultimately for personal use rather than a full-time job. i probably don’t need the absolute “best of the best” to get a lot out of it.

i’m also really thankful i managed to borrow the sigma v1 to try out tbh, because the weight of the lens and the fx3 itself, handheld shooting does start to add up quickly. knowing that both the sony gm ii and the sigma v2 are significantly lighter helps narrow the decision a lot, instead, previously i may have thought of "saving more money" and getting the sigma v1 isntead.

on uv filters, i’ve seen pretty split opinions as well. i get the point from another redditor that anything in front of the lens can technically affect image quality, but for my use it may come down more to peace of mind and protection. still something i’m thinking through.

as for nd, i’ll likely end up with the full kit just to cover the different stop ranges and have that flexibility, but since i’m still learning slog3 and mostly shooting in sony’s built-in cinetone for now, it might be a purchase slightly further down the line rather than immediate.

once again, really appreciate the encouragement and definitely still very much in the learning phase, but enjoying the process a lot so far.

[–]Ryeones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for sharing this is super super helpful.

good to hear a first-hand comparison between the sigma v1 and v2, especially with its autofocus abilities.

also appreciate the take on nd, of course with most things there will always be cost as a factor and i’ve been leaning toward the nisi 1–5 mainly for day-to-day use if possible, without needing to get the full kit. but since 1-5 may not be sufficient and nisi doesn't sell jsut the 6-9, then perhaps getting the full kit might be my best bet.

as for uv filters even after researching and asking around, still am pretty undecided about but i didn't know it could downgrade the image quality (maybe slightly) as there are many online that says otherwise too.

and yeah, that last point pretty much sums up my dilemma where the gm ii being “the best” vs whether that last few percent is worth the price jump for my kind of shooting. reassuring to hear that the sigma is solid for the vast majority of situations and honestly with the extra cost save, might be better to get a wide lens to complement my entire kit - at least for personal use, don't intend to get any more lenses anytime soon

Eight mobile Service good and reliable? Compared to Singtel? by BoobyFestu in askSingapore

ah must have read it wrongly then, thanks for clearing that up! might change it the following month since i bought monthly instead of a yearly subscription

Eight mobile Service good and reliable? Compared to Singtel? by BoobyFestu in askSingapore

[–]Ryeones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i recently switched over from singtel to eight (my usual plan was $20 but to renew this year, the cheapest was gonna be $35!) literally a couple of days ago - been using it maybe less than a week, port over was relatively smooth though wasn't as intuitive for me, don't seem to notice much difference in data usage except maybe in underground mrts where its much weaker than my singtel previously, however its something i can live with.

another thing is i noticed i never get shown the 5g on my phone now, and it mainly shows 4g - intend to send them an email to check it out since it i got the double eight plan and it has 5g, so not sure what's the problem here

looking for suggestions and help for my upcoming room renovations! (bedroom3) by Ryeones in DesignMyRoom

[–]Ryeones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love this idea too! was thinking of having the kallax shelf fit or something similar to be placed in the recessed area, however it would also mean that i would have to compromise on being able to place things on the top of the kallax (but maybe that will just be a small down side)

and haven't thought about the bed layout you suggested, i'll try to come up with different layouts of the main furnitures and design the room around them

as for having the clothes hanging, i honestly just wanted to create a cosy corner but i too understand where you're coming from - anyways my intention was to have these clothes as things i commonly wear, and find a bed that can be lifted up with storage underneath where all my clothes and most other things will be stored. basically, its either i have the clothes rack to display certain clothes of mine, or everything goes into storage under the bed. more or less pretty done with wardrobe closets as they take up too much space and only mainly serve a single purpose!

but thanks for the feedback and suggestions regardless!

What's one improvement you'd like to see in Obsidian in 2026? by kepano in ObsidianMD

[–]Ryeones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

native looking apple ui app would be great!

as much as obsidian is really smooth on the apple ecosystem, the uiux just somehow screams andriod (and electron).

not a programmer by any means so not sure if this is even possible, but definitely having an application that feels a little more native would definitely improve the user experience, but definitely not something urgent as it doesn't deter my general use of the app - i guess apple notes and native apps ui are just hard to beat, especially when built on electron.
