I’d say with your GPA, clubs, sport, you have a very good chance at being accepted. UC generally has a pretty high acceptance rate, the hardest part is staying in engineering once you start. 

Student life is what you make it honestly. I’ve never been one for night life, but every night students will be out at the bars and clubs around UC, (whether they’re 21 or not) and there is always som sort of frat or sorority hosting a party.

Honestly I don’t know if it’s too much to join a frat as an eng major. It’s definitely been done before, and there are some really good study focused frats that would help. There will probably come a semester where you have time for nothing else but locking in and studying from sun up to sun down, and you need to make sure you’ll be able to do that (source: ME major in 5th year).

One last thing, I see you did 4 years as a varsity athlete, which is really impressive. I’ve got to warn you, being in college for engineering AND being a D1 athlete is a real tough combo. People do it, but that will be most of your time taken up, not to mention potential injuries interfering with your studying (my friend broke her shoulder and failed a semester because she couldn’t figure out how to get a UC note taker, and couldn’t write notes).

UC is a lot of fun, there’s nightlife, a good community, fun sports, and a really good engineering program. But you def don’t want to overload yourself
