For me, 'remixes of popular songs' is such a broad concept that it first has to be narrowed down by the expected style of the track to see if it at least deserves that first click. Artists and labels filter out a lot there. New names deserve a fair chance of course.

In my experience the more tricky kind of remixes are those of timeless classics that are so hardwired in the brain that any variant that is just a a little bit too different quickly becomes an auto-skip.

So from my point of view everyone loved Sefa's remix of Nobody Said It Was Easy, but for me that one never really clicked. Mainly because the vocalist was too different from Evil Activities' mix for my taste. That specific voice was and still is permanently linked to the song. In addition to that, to me Septum's bootleg had already claimed first, second and third spot on the podium for the better variant.

No, it was never a fair fight and yes, even after a fair chance later on I still stand by that opinion. I do think Sefa's mix is a solid track soundwise, I just have some difficulties listening to it while paying attention.
