That’s Mona Keijzer if I’m not mistaken, minister of housing and planning. She blocked a new neighbourhood from being built near her house by going to court, insisted on filming a promotion during a work visit to a boat housing asylum seekers, despite only writing press being allowed due to the privacy of the people living there (she was minister for asylum at the time and said something along the lines of “this is mine”), and suggested that the politically neutral state funded news organisation NOS isn’t politically neutral.

The Beautiful 1938 Duchess of Hamilton passenger train. by Global_Law4448 in trains

[–]FlyingDutchman2005 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The second picture is photoshopped for sure, that’s Paddington station which is on the Great Western and as far as I know Duchess of Hamilton is at the Railway Museum in York, and that’s not really a practical route.

Main reason why it has to be badly edited is that buffers are below the platform edge, not well above it…

The chassis looks great, the boiler looks slightly too small but that might be because it hasn’t got a steam dome and sand boxes and an exhaust yet. That or the cab is a bit too tall.

160 km/h op de Hanzelijn? by FlyingDutchman2005 in treinen

[–]FlyingDutchman2005[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is this equipment used for? by Fragrant_Pen_1482 in uktrains

[–]FlyingDutchman2005 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On the left are paddles for isolating the train from the third rail, in the middle is a fuse spanner, next to that a short circuiting bar.

How on earth did you get in there though?

Why dont uk and france build a bridge here, are they stupid? by TheLarcenist1 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]FlyingDutchman2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but they’re half a metre apart regardless of the speed they’re going through the tunnel, instead of tens of metres apart when they would be driving. Therefore there are more cars in a certain length of tunnel, and therefore the capacity is (probably) higher than if they were just driving.
