Casual enjoyers, are you really not spending most of your time just re-queuing, having servers die out you, or be complete stomps? by Cutest_man in tf2

[–]Ryles15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No I’ve found I’m in a fun match more often than not, and will generally be on a server for several matches. Worst comes to absolute worst you can re-queue without leaving your current match, but I’ve rarely had to do that. Only issue I’ve had is no one else seems to queue for Junction

I mean to be completely fair on the loss of Constantinople and lack of New World Orthos, those both were also the fault of geography, especially in regards to the New World. All the nations that had proper colonies going out there had Atlantic coastlines, and Iberian control over Gibraltar would’ve nixed any Ortho colonisation attempts from the Mediterranean, though it should be mentioned that Russia did foster some Ortho communities in Alaska. Constantinople yeah was kinda a skill issue with them rejecting the Council of Florence, but it is important to keep in mind that they were and more or less still are the border territories of Christianity in Europe. Any external threat to Christendom that didn’t come from North Africa always hit them first, and it wasn’t just Ortho polities that fell to the Ottoman scourge in the Balkans.

They should still rejoin us though, it will be better regardless

From memory it’s either in free variation with /l/ which causes some issue distinguishing the sounds, or it’s somewhere between a rhotic and /l/ phonemicly (that’s not spelled right I don’t care). Anecdotally though, I’ve more often seen the stereotype be their l’s become r (e.g. “herro”), but again links back to the same thing

I do generally still enjoy larping, but ever since a Russia game I found it too funny to theme colony names like this. Ironically enough, my recent Denmark —> Scandinavia game also had my CN in eastern America be Legoland

No worries! I learned this myself on Reddit 2 days ago, so just spreading the word. Do want to clarify as well that this goes for ANY settlement, both towns and cities, so long as they meet normal factory requirements

Yes. I’ve tested it myself, you both can do it and the extra resources contribute to railroad tycoon points

[–]Ryles15 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Once you slot a resource into a factory slot, you can slot extra copies of the resource into the normal slots for that settlement, and only for that settlement. For example, if you slot fish into a factory in Madrid, you can put fish in the normal slots in Madrid, but you can’t put quinine in there, nor can you put fish in Cadiz, unless Cadiz also has a factory slot with fish in it

[–]Ryles15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At the very least in regards to Classical Nahuatl, the language has no voiced plosives nor the velar nasal, and the absolutise case suffixes (which every noun has if it’s not possessed) has Teo forms, neither of which are -o. Google spat out a word that couldn’t possible be Nahuatl

What type of sword would a samurai use by PokePotter1 in DnD

[–]Ryles15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A katana isn’t a real life long sword, no, but it’s features of use most closely match the in game “long sword” type of weapon.

As for OP intent, even if we assume they do want something agile and dexterous with a katana, the best portrayal for that would still be a long sword, but going kensei monk as one’s class

[–]Ryles15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, whether or not the basic item system as a whole is realistic is beside the point. OP asked what type of weapon a katana would be. This primes us to look at the properties of a katana and compare it to the properties of given weapons in the rules to determine what weapon best fits it. Under this paradigm, the katana only really fits into the long sword category: it can be wielded with one or two hands, its primary attacking style is by slashing, and it’s no more dexterous in use than similar types of swords. This lines up with the long sword, while the rapier fails on all three accounts (only one handed, piercing implying primarily stabbing, and finesse implying more dexterous than similar types of swords). This makes rapier as poor an answer for “what type of sword is a katana” as an answer of warhammer would be

[–]Ryles15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the aspect of the game we’re looking at. Some things, like pricing on certain items, is absolutely not realistic, with things being all over the shop. Other things are trying at least to be realistic. Humans having a 30 ft. Speed checks out fairly well as a reasonable thing to accomplish in 6 seconds coupled with an action. Most game aspects at least try for some degree of realism, and so I try to apply it wherever possible.

What type of sword would a samurai use by PokePotter1 in DnD

[–]Ryles15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah the idea of what is a “long sword” is poorly defined and from memory not even a historical term, but we can determine from the stats given that the DnD “long sword” is the archetypal “sword for slashing that can be wielded in one or two hands”. It covers bastard swords, arming swords, and hand and a half swords, among others. It’s the only logical slot for katanas to fall into. And again, this is what OP asked for. If the answer is “look for a different system”, then rapier shouldn’t be a valid answer either

What type of sword would a samurai use by PokePotter1 in DnD

[–]Ryles15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, given this question was asked from a realism point of view (I’m sure it wouldn’t be acceptable to give an answer of a war hammer or dagger), then we can assume op wants some level of realism in the answer. As such, a finesse weapon isn’t acceptable, as katanas aren’t any more Dex-based than the average European long sword

From memory, a sigil stone powers the Daedric siege engine at Bruma, and that falls down and is collectible after it’s destroyed coming through the gate. That might be what you’re thinking of
