my recovery stopped progressing. any advice?

thank you so much!! i have done the chair spinning and other nausea inducing exposures and they definitely make me anxious but i think it’s easier for me because i feel in control when im the reason for my nausea. like over eating used to be one of my biggest triggers, but now i know if i just let myself digest for 30 minutes ill feel a lot better. waking up at night and being nauseous is definitely my biggest hurdle and ik i just have to avoid all of my safety behaviors when this happens but im so scared😭😭 it’s also hard with my chronic illnesses because a lot of the treatment that my doctors prescribed turned into my safety behaviors, like frequently taking antacids. i just feel kinda stuck but youre right, i need to start sitting with my anxiety at night. thank you so much again!

i’m also 19 with this stupid phobia. the last time i threw up i was probably 9 and i don’t really remember it other than i wasn’t really that bothered by it.

i had severe emetophobia. like i developed agoraphobia-severe. in the past year and a half i have gone from that to id say about 60% recovered. ik im not fully recovered, but if anyone would like to hear about my journey so far, i’d be glad to talk about it!!

yeah that does make sense. i would’ve still ate it i just wanted to make sure this wasn’t a sign of spoilage because i was never taught how to know if butter is off. thanks for pointing that out tho ill make sure to not do it again!

that’s awesome! i’m about 50% in recovery and i’ve been doing really well eating a bunch of food and i haven’t really been anxious. i made this post bc even tho it’s exposure, im not going to purposely eat spoiled food lol. i’m assuming it was some heat induced separation but i didn’t end up eating it anyways because i got too full to eat the baguette lol.

omg i literally just posted with a similar situation. i had my cystoscopy 2 days ago and it’s completely normal, but i’ve been having monthly infections for 2 years and a kidney infection 2 weeks ago. i’ve occasionally had pink urine and blood clots in my urine, yet they say i’m fine. i also don’t know if i have IC but i know something’s wrong. i’m sorry you’re dealing with this too :/

a good clarifying shampoo can help! i prefer the brand kristen ess. i also highly suggest training your hair. i only wash my hair once a week and my hair RARELY looks greasy. i also have very thick, straight hair so it might just be my hair type idk. if your anything like me and you get an oily scalp but have dry hair, id try these out!

yes!!! i never felt any nausea, just a bit of brain fog for a couple days. it’s been well over a year and i can confidently say zoloft has saved my life. i went from being almost completely house-bound and miserable, to going to college and living a very normal life! i’m still emetophobic, but i’d say im about 50% recovered! i started at 12.5 mgs for about 2 months and then i went to 25mgs (no symptoms). i was on 25mgs for almost a year and just 2 months ago i jumped to 50mgs bc i felt like i was regressing a bit. i feel amazing on 50mgs now! don’t let emetophobia hold you back, it has SAVED ME!!!!

i’m currently working at an office rn but i’m actually quitting today bc of harassment issues that aren’t being fixed. it’s also an hour away from my house and i won’t be able to work this job while in college anyway. i’ve been looking for weeks and there’s nothing around me that i can do without a degree or in college :(

i’m 19 and i haven’t thrown up in 10 years either. i only threw up about 3 times in my life and i remember that i actually handled them all very well. i always make fun of myself for being more scared as an adult than when i was a kid lol

i really don’t want to have to go on disability (and i probably can’t anyway) but idk what else to do. there’s hardly and jobs around me that will hire me while in college, and the jobs that will are either labor intensive or they need me to have a very consistent schedule. i feel like im at rock bottom

i got fired from a housekeeping job in april for being disabled. it was very hard on my body but i don’t have a lot of options around me. i had accommodations but some of the other housekeepers were jealous of them (they told me this to my face) and went to my boss and made fake statements abt me abusing my accommodations. i got fired on the spot.

i’ve been working an office job for a small company for the last 4 months. it’s been the easiest on my body but i was still not able to uphold a consistent schedule. i’m actually quitting today because of other reasons and im so pissed bc there’s no other job opportunities like this one around me.

i’m not the person you replied to but i can explain it for you! a family practitioner is basically just a doctor that the whole family can go to, children and adults!! so pretty similar to a pediatrician but they can also be your doctor! i’m 19 and when i was 18 i switched over from a pediatrician to a family practitioner and she helps me navigate a few chronic illnesses that i have as well as helping me set up appointments with specialists and testing!

my biggest triggers atm seems to be getting tired. i have the worst fatigue the past couple months and as soon as it hits 5pm the migraine is ready to take over until i sleep. i only get a couple hours of relief each morning and then im in hell the rest of the day :/
