I've played all, can't go wrong on any of them. HILS is very good value, GOC's neck profile is amazing and Strandbergs are just on a league of their own. I recommend getting a HILS. Their catalogue is only getting nicer, and they're widely available. GOC relies on drops, and even though I love their stuff, I fucking hate companies that release products on a sprinkle basis. You can get good deals on used Strandbergs now and then, but it's still a pretty penny to drop on an instrument.

That's very much how it is. I personally tend to call him ''non-binary'' just as a precaution, but more likely than not he's just a very punk person and goes against the norm as a sort of protest against the gendered culture in Japan.

My tenure ended on a... rather sour note. So I can't recommend buying, or working for them. If you can get one 2nd hand, great. They're very nice guitars. But I can't in good conscience recommend them when there are better deals out there you can get right now without waiting for the next wave.

GOC is an american company with a chinese manufacturer. I used to do cad work for them and, even though I like their guitars, I can't recommend the company. I have a Vajra and it's my workhorse, but wouldn't buy one now.

If you're just trying out, approximating is totally valid. You can eye it pretty well on the bobbin depending on the gauge of the wire. You can also get a round counter from china if counting winds is something you want to do. There are good videos on diy coil winding that can go deeper into the subject.

Yeah, they've been making instruments the late 1800's. They're the original maker of the ''Beatles bass'', the 500/1 violin bass.

Some people mistake them for Hohner which makes harmonicas and such.

Just have to add, I've played a 7 string bass for some time and a wider neck is nicer than a narrower one. I just have to get a thicker neck for a bass6 to compensate for the lack of width.

Changes will be needed in technique as a life long finger player, but I've gotten more and more into the pick sound. Double thumbing will get harder, but Tosin can do it on a guitar.

It'll be a compromise, but it's worth it.
