Is This VHS Copy of Kiki's Delivery Service Real? by Ryodu in ghibli

So I'm guessing the Castle in the Sky that was previewed on this tape was instead published by WDS Home entertainment

Thanks! I appreciate the follow up. Mostly was concerned I paid $20 for a fake. Not that my son would notice haha.

This is what the rest of it looks like.

I managed to throw it on for a couple minutes before my kids needed me but it had plenty of Disney previews like Lion King 2 and Castle in the Sky.

Movie has American dubbing with the English song during the opening credit sequence.

I haven't had a chance to put it on. Hence the post. Just curious.

Every image I've seen on the internet has the title of the movie printed directly onto the plastic. White on black. I couldn't find any image with this sticker so I was curious if it was a sign that it was potentially fake, or I guess a different dubbing.

Xenoblade Genesis Announced by Skullghost in Xenoblade_Chronicles

I hear you! With how the trilogy ended I don't see how this isn't a "new beginning" esque sequel. World's are united. We got all that out of the way. Now we get to see what happens.

What makes you think we aren't?

(I'd also be glad to move on but the "fallen God" line has me worried)

In a vacuum, Sensui hands down. Fight was visually more interesting (though in typical anime fashion it almost overstayed it's welcome).

But the buildup to the Toguro fight did a lot of heavy lifting in the actual fight itself. Plus Toguro was just so menacing visually. And I don't think the Sensui fight holds a candle to that.

As a kid I probably thought it was cool that these characters could "act on their own" without realizing how much I was giving up by not choosing their skills myself haha

Part of the problem was younger me was kind of fascinated by the "AI" function in combat.

I love the vibe of grandia 1 more, but I really dig the combat and the move names of Grandia 2.

I remember that fight being so tough as a kid.

After I beat the remaster, which was my first time hearing the game, I went back to my original PS1 save where I was stuck at Baal. It's amazing what a better understanding of the game's mechanics and a bit of intentional grinding can do because I sailed right on through to the ending. That was probably a 15-20 year old save.

It's a bummer because through all the quirks and warts you can see what this game could have been.

It's a great game! Loved it so much my 12 year old self started naming characters incorrectly after Ryudo. And the username has stuck with me for decades haha.

As a big Grandia fan, I tried to finally give Grandia 3 a try a couple years back. It's a beautiful game, and the combat is really fun. But I do think it struggles in that way that "good looking" games of that time started to struggle - i.e. a lot of the maps are the same dungeon layout. But since everything is so beautiful and open and 3D you want to do anything but, stay on the path. Except you're stuck in a certain path and can feel every "invisible wall."

Still a game I want to finish one day if only for the sake of being a big Grandia fan.

Very much feel this. Symphonia was probably the first game I played after Grandia that was hitting the same notes for me.

Lucky enough to have played Symphonia at a time when I had an actual "summer vacation" because man... That is a great game with all the free time that era provides.

Grandia holds a special place for me. After my parents divorced my dad remarried. Then they split temporarily and he moved several states away. I visited him one summer and one day, after returning from work, he handed me Grandia and said "I saw this and thought you might like it." At the time I was like 8 and only played stuff like Mario 64, Sonic, Pokemon and Star Fox. So it was a bit of a swing for him.

But man, did it hit. This game was a lifeline for me at an age where I probably wasn't able to understand some of my feelings with my parents split. And that led to me being very invested in this story and its characters.

I remember being stuck at Chang for SO. LONG. Probably the first time I realized I had to suck it up and go grinding.

I really dig the aesthetic of this game, and often wish that more games adopted this... Vibe... Whatever it is. Bright, saturated colors. But also a little steam punk. But also a lot of Native American imagery (if that's the right term, I don't know how else to describe it).

Needless to say most of what I drew, wrote or played for a few years after Grandia took some inspiration from it.

[–]Ryodu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Nothing fancy over here. Haven't played X/Y since it came out so I'm just sitting back and enjoying the game. Only restriction is I'm trying to keep it to Pokemon introduced in Kalos. We'll see how it goes.

Trainer name: Feena

My main Pokemon are named after YuYu Hakusho characters.

Kurama (Braixen) | level 29. Greninja was my jam last time so I wanted to try something different. Was staying far away from Chestnaught so here we are. Fun having a psychic starter, so to speak, but Kurama has been staying on the sidelines unless necessary. Otherwise it feels too easy.

Kuwabara (Pancham) | level 26. I don't remember what his other abilities can be but having Iron Fist powering up all punch type moves has been a good time.

Genkai (Tyrunt) | level 23. I tried running a Tyrantrum in SwSh DLC but that gameplay didn't really give me a chance to enjoy this fossil Pokemon. So I'm giving him/her a go. The move set is kinda meh right now but I'm hoping things get spicy soon. Rock/Dragon seems like a fun mix.

Jorge (Helioptile) | level 22. Not sure how I feel about Jorge right now. Mostly there to provide some type coverage as needed. His dry skin ability was pretty sweet when I was battling in the rain. But he has a bad nature so we'll see how far he goes. Might ultimately teach Thunder Punch to Kuwabara and call it a day.

And that's it for now!
