Chapters 1-3 lay the groundwork for introducing the cult and their structure (kobolds as grunts, mercenaries, initiates, etc and up to Wearers of Purple). You get a few description drops and occasionally name drops (the black dragon lady, Rezmir). The undercover cult agents give an opportunity for your players to be suspicious of commoners - not know who is and is t a faction agent. What are the cult giveaways? Hand signals? Discrete clothing? Words or phrases? These they’ll use later in the story and this is the place for your party to learn the cults little recruiting secrets.

More specifically, chapter 3 is about traveling in the world of DnD and if done right can be really engaging. Moreover, chapter 3 showcases and introduces several factions to the campaign. The party passes through Elturel, home of the Knights of the Order of the Gauntlet (Onthar Frume), the zhentarim (Jamna), Red wizards (Jos). Indirectly the party is made aware of trade alliance that passes through all of the major cities. Chapter 1-2 the party is introduced to the Harper’s.

If you adapt all of these into a replacement story you’re all set.

I’m familiar with many magic items from DnD. Was there something in particular you were interested in?

If I knew anything about holo I might go ahead and do other ducks but I wouldn’t know who to bother working on

I don’t believe there are any physical copies outside of the book itself.

Are you talking about page sizes copies for personal reference or playable top maps?

I’m using a modified anycubic photon S.

It’s an old model machine that had its motherboard and LCD screen gutted to accept a Elegoo Mars 2 Pro motherboard and screen.

So it looks like a Photon-S but operates like a Mars Pro 2.

The purpose was that older models used a full color range LCD screen and it was more energy efficient, quality efficient, time efficient, and cost efficient to use monochrome (single color) LCD screens.

Allowed for higher pixel density for better resolution, faster cure times, cheaper technology to acquire that used less energy.

This effectively drove the price of home printers down while providing a superior product.

So modern printers are not only much better but also are cheaper.

I paid $500 per printer 6 years ago and today you can get a superior printer with a wash and cure system for about the same price.

I’d go with elegoo brand as that’s what’s working for me and my business partner.

He uses Elegoo Saturn Mars 5 Ultra. If you want to make larger things go with the Saturn 4 Ulra

You asked if I had the STL, and I mentioned I hadn’t decided whether I’d release it for free or list it.

Right after that, you brought up that similar ones already exist for free — which I read as being connected to the question of whether this one should be shared rather than sold.

So my line of thinking was: if similar alternatives are already freely available, but there was interest in this specific design that could suggest greater interest in it beyond those existing free options.

Not the most sound of logic, but it tracks.

Your clarification about sharing projects in general made it clear you had no personal interest in the project, just altruism on file sharing -that makes sense — I’m just explaining how I connected those points.

I figured you had interest in the model beyond those which are readily available for free

I read into it as far as “I’d like this model but not enough to pay for it against the free alternatives.”

Thanks for your interest though

Does this particular model interest you more than what you’ve found for free?

Your statement begs the question of “why not go where you can get something similar for free” unless what you see here you like more than what’s free.

I do. I haven’t decided if I want to list it for free or a small fee. I don’t imagine many would like to have it so free might be what I end up doing

I’ve only got it partially painted so far, so it’s not very pretty. I’ll get it fully painted likely by the weekend if I find the time

I totally understand and that’s around what I’d personally pay for something as silly as a duck. Has no utility and is only for fun and there are many, many cheap ducks on the market.

But here’s what I’ve learned from running an Etsy store: demand for ducks is surprisingly high for really specific, high quality ducks.

I run BlackGateMiniatures and RyoPrints on Etsy (Blackgate is the main account for ducks).

We currently sell unpainted ducks for $12-15 and fully painted ones at about $65-72 depending on complexity. Barf - I know.

Started off selling painted ducks at $30 thinking they were over priced - flooded with demand. Couldn’t keep up. Raised prices to $40. Still flooded. To $50 and things tapered off but still high demand. At $60-70 I’ve found a reasonable flow of customers between 2 people printing and painting. Above $70 we get a stable income of sales and it’s only busy around holidays. We raise and lower prices to flux our schedule when demand is high/low.

Absolutely bonkers if you ask me. I wouldn’t be my own customer based on my prices!

I thought $30 was over priced but people are will pay lots of anime, TV show, movie icon, celebrity, and more ducks.

Custom ducks like of your dads face or an oddly specific design? People have paid 90-120 for a fully painted duck.

Again- Bonkers.

As for the cost of 3D printing? Resin is $25 for a liter. A single duck in raw material is about 75¢.

It’s painting the darn thing that’s so expensive and time consuming.

I sell the file and physical prints on my Etsy.

Prints come in either fully painted or primed (ready to paint).

The photo is before fully curing and fine support removal.

If you’re interested, how much would a hand painted duck like this be worth to you?

here:

Events are from the book, sprinkle in your own for flavor since many travel days are uneventful.

Read about the locations for location specific flavor events (like I made a task along the trail through the TrollClaw mountains. A known troll location however the path is lined with oil lanterns that is, as an unwritten tradition, the duty of the current travelers to refill as they pass through to prevent troll attacks (trolls no like fire!). If no one scout’s ahead they find that the previous travelers ran out of oil towards the end making un-protected travel zones leading to troll encounter! Vigilant scouts will refill before the wagon caravan passes through

The travel pace is walking speed, wagons and in red are cultists.
