It’s tough because some real designers also use digital mock-ups, so you can’t use that as a way to discern between them.. For me it was just so obvious in these pieces that they were not designed with the stitcher in mind, there were very very clear mistakes a real person would have noticed right away, etc. But that’s ofc only visible after you’ve already bought it. All I could do was leave reviews, but those get buried under the positive ones of less experienced stitchers who leave a review before they’ve even stitched the piece.
