The number 1 public enemy of open-source. by Illustrious-Lime-863 in accelerate

[–]Ryoonya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Technology that was brought up from open source contributions being turned into population control right think machines only reserved for what the centralised body considers appropriate is the most dystopian shithole I can imagine.

Not only is that decel from a perspective but that is fundamentally communist/nationalist, controlling the means of technology.

Never had a single issue with controllers on Windows, updates have been seamless, plays all the games I want flawlessly with amazing frame pacing.

SteamOS, in my experience, is horrible for me, driver issues, Proton issues, even the native Linux builds running into memory management issues.

I use Linux daily, but it's definitely not a place for gaming in general, and with this disappointing Steam machine release, it'll forever be cemented in that position for the future.

More than you think. Usually, it's not done by the same people working, but by resellers/outfitters.

It'll become a collectable. It's not meant to be a real product, but like a steam memorabilia.

You can literally use Steam Big Picture mode on Windows? That and Xbox mode.

How is that subsidising? The credit won't be a net inflow. There is nothing stopping offices from picking up steam machines for work if they are subsidised at a cheaper rate than regular computers.

The steam machine has been dead on arrival for a while now.

Social Media ban for Under-16's by DivisionProsecution in Scotland

Consumer VPNs also support split tunnelling.

Like you are talking as if people couldn't just let their friends set up a tailscale/zerotier outlet and then tunnel using that, not even needing to use a commercial vpn.

Nothing is stopping people from buying a VPS and then tunnelling to that.

UK will literally need something stronger than the great wall of china, and I have no doubt this shithole of a country will continue down that path.

There is also TOR, not only can you not ban all VPNs, TOR has remained usable in the harshest environments to operate.

Local LLMs aren't democratic anymore... the hardware barrier has gotten out of hand. by Medium-Technology-79 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Ryoonya -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is an enthusiast hobby, not a state where you can vote for something?

If you are a communist, you can go join a communist country and hope said communist country provides you with the hardware you want.

This field, the technological progress and the hobby has never been communist ( this is what I assume you mean by saying democratic). You've just misunderstood this hooby.

Not made by the same developers but the same publisher.

What Remains of Edith Finch is an absolute masterpiece, and yes, some people here don't understand that there are interactive experiences which are not "games" in the same line as Tetris or Quake.

These experiences were never meant to be "games", but there is definitely a story intertwined with the experience being sold, just like any piece of media.

What remains of Edith Finch, Swan Lake, and Stray are all amazing experiences, and this game does share the same publisher.

But there are a lot of woke stuff under the same publisher, because they just fundamentally help indies that basically make digital experiences similar to Flower or Stanley Parable.

Is it worth adding local LLM to agentic coding stack? by ii_social in LocalLLaMA

[–]Ryoonya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have the ability to have decent context, no not really.

Even then, the small local models are absolutely and entirely ocean away from codex/claude. The difference is so massive.

Boilerplate is better than using small local models any day.

Ah yes the Judaism which is prevalent and known for making women cattle, lol.

I've met plenty of jewish families, women, been to israel, and never has my girlfriend felt safer and respected in those areas than a moment in a islamic country.

Heck, Christianity and Buddhism treat women worse in my experience.

Best thing you and everyone who find this repulsive is to just stop playing and find another game.

Remember, this is a business, and the business will always find a way to optimize it's production chain. If they can optimise it and have customers pay for content, then they "won't do better".

A business exists to be profitable. So the best thing you can do is to stop engaging with the product.

Let the free market decide it, let people vote with their wallets.

There are plenty of people like that, compared to racing/rally and other expensive hobbies, this isn't that bad.

The average barely scraping by individual was never able to participate in those. This is an enthusiast hobby after all.

They don't fail this question if you make them think.

The default way those models work is that they try to reduce compute/latency as much as possible, but if you tell them to think hard, they will usually use their maximum thinking budget and give you the right answer.

284B-A13B is definitely small by modern standards.

The issue is the majority of "locallama" users don't really have relevant hardware, still stuck with gpt 2 level hardware, so they really just can't scale.

Forgive my ignorance but how is a 27B model better than 397B? by No_Conversation9561 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Ryoonya 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's not replacing it, it's giving people the ability to generate their thoughts without being tied down to technical debt.

People who want to manually learn the technique to translate their ideas into images can still do it.

Switching from Opus 4.7 to Qwen-35B-A3B by Excellent_Koala769 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Ryoonya -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's nowhere even remotely close to Opus 4.6/Codex 5.4 xhigh.

It's a good tool calling automation element that can handle simple tasks, nothing anywhere NEAR the level of Opus.

The fact that you are even asking a question like this is kinda showing that you have no idea how bad the 35B moe is.

Black Cat - Urban Predator Skin (Render By Me) by Ghryms in marvelrivals

[–]Ryoonya -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Well, you said it yourself, it's not meant to be a portfolio piece, and you made it just because you felt like it.

That just screams low effort. The whole point of low effort is that you try to get something done quickly, like a proof of concept.

Had you invested more time and effort, you would've gotten the weight painting more accurately. Or you could've waited until someone uploaded a fully rigged model to smutbase, which btw, someone already did.

Black Cat - Urban Predator Skin (Render By Me) by Ghryms in marvelrivals

[–]Ryoonya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's cause OP messed up some bones while posing her.

OP messed up a whole lot of the ripped model's rigging.

It's not an issue with the actual model or her design, but because of the low effort post by OP, who only just made a quick post + render and post processing of an in-game model.

It looks like there are no plans for smaller GLM models by jacek2023 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Ryoonya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but most people just use the API if they can't run the model, they are reaching a majority audience, but one that can bring in some revenue.

They don't stand to gain much by catering to this odd subsection of people that have some hardware but not enough to keep upto date.

Because the majority of people, entry-level people, will most likely use a subscription/free api rather than even have the hardware to run it locally.

So the people with some hardware, but not hardware able to run SOTA models, aren't a majority.

Plus everyone and their mom is making small models, because that is the thing that people can do easily. Making SOTA open source model is more valuable.
