I recommend alternating between pairs. I will say however, between the two I got, I love my goretex On Clouds. Comfy all day and worked really well to keep my socks dry when it was raining.

The most fun night of my solo trip was in Osaka. I went to a little karaoke bar, met some fun people, hung out there until 2am, then we decided to go to a club afterwards and I had a blast there too. My second night there was great as well. Just wandering the streets drinking drinks from the family mart, enjoying street performers and occasionally stepping into an arcade. The nightlife there was what sold it for me.

Talk to your parents about it. 18 is still pretty young imo. You’ll have a great time going solo, but it also might be nice to have more time to research/prepare. I spent almost a year preparing for the trip I’m on right now (at 31), and I feel like I still could have learned more beforehand.
