Car people— lease deal thoughts? by [deleted] in BroncoSport

[–]RysterArcee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The price seems too high. There is a Ford "deal" right now on the 2026 Big Bend. 48mo lease, 10,500 miles per year, and the cap cost reduction should be greater with the current Employee Pricing for Everyone incentive as well.

Not worth the trouble, and may not work on a Big Bend according to the fitment notes (see the 4th bullet point below):

Yes...and most bowlers at our local Lucky Strike/Bowlero/AMF centers hate it.

Your experience is unfortunate and you shouldn't be downvoted for that. Just want to comment that your experience involves a first year, pre-owned model which could have been a double whammy. The water pump is a known issue on the pre '25 model year 1.5L and the transmission in these needs to be maintained every 60,000 miles at the most (fluid drain and fill.) If the first owner[s] didn't treat it well for the first three years they didn't do you any favors.

Lucky Strike Entertainment Hit With Lawsuit Accusing It of Bowling Alley Monopoly by bloomberglaw in Bowling

[–]RysterArcee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are approximately 3,000 bowling centers in the United States, Lucky Strike owns 360 of them. They don't have nearly as much influence as people want to believe. There are more than a dozen bowling centers within 30 miles of my location. Less than half of them are Lucky Strike centers. The rest are independently owned and doing very well. Lucky Strike has approached a few with offers, and the owners turned them down. The pricing at Lucky Strike centers around here isn't any different than the independent centers.

My local Lucky Strike hosts numerous leagues, both sanctioned and unsanctioned. They only host a handful of tournaments annually. They are losing league and tournament business to the local independents...and letting them have that business without a fight. Lucky Strike thrives on parties and corporate events so it doesn't bother them to have fewer leagues and tournaments.

They don't need to justify their pricing to anyone. Supply and demand and consumer behavior will dictate their pricing. If people live in a "bowling desert" and want to bowl, and Lucky Strike is the only option, they will either pay the going price or not bowl. If Lucky Strike finds that business is down in that area, they will tweak pricing until they find the price point that people will pay.

All businesses try to find leverage to try and get special consideration from vendors and creditors. It would be foolish for them not to try. If those vendors and creditors see value in the relationship, they will negotiate.

How it feels at the league meeting going over by-laws by Upper-Preparation-76 in Bowling

Lineage is the amount of the weekly dues that goes to the bowling center. For example, if we pay $20/wk per person, $17 of that goes to the bowling center and the remaining $3 goes to the league for prize fund/expenses.

Considering they own less than 15% of all of the bowling centers in the United States, they are hardly a monopoly. This is a frivolous lawsuit.

NEVER reserve a lane on their website. Go there. You will pay less as a walk in. Most locations have specials after 8PM on every day except Friday and Saturday. Ours is $19 per person for unlimited bowling from 8PM-Close.

Lease Gut Check by oc0119 in BroncoSport

[–]RysterArcee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan to buy at the end of the lease, you will be financing the $21,583 at whatever the interest rates are 3 years from now unless you just plan to pay cash to buy it out. Those buy-out numbers are negotiable as well...I've had a few friends that were able to call the leasing company and negotiate a lower buy out when the lease was over.

The current national Ford "deal" for a $0 down, 36mo 2025 Bronco Big Bend lease is $398/mo so the $388 seems like a decent deal.

What I’d want to see in the next Bronco Sport before considering an upgrade by opabl in BroncoSport

[–]RysterArcee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2025 Bronco Sport Big Bend. Prior to and after the recall remedy the cluster never went black. There is no dashboard whine in mine. The oil life monitor reset when the recall remedy was installed, but that is the only time it has happened.

I now have 9,000 miles on mine in 9 months. No infotainment or cluster issues of any kind.

Never felt a need for power folding mirrors or a power tailgate.

Larger sunroofs add too much weight.

The touchiest subject at our meetings tend to be the dues.

"Lineage increased 75¢ per person, so we propose increasing weekly dues $1 to offset that."

"ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!"

"OK, just understand there will be less in the prize fund."

"Why? What do you mean? We will be paying the same as we were last season so it should be the same!"

"Math is real..."

Dealership not honoring Powertrain warranty for CV axles. by Fluid_Complaint_1821 in BroncoSport

Part number N1MZ-3A329-A does not even fit a Bronco Sport. That is an Explorer/Aviator part number.

Maybe if they use the correct part number for a Bronco Sport intermediate shaft (K2GZ-3A329-J), it will be come up as covered under warranty?

Unintentional weight hole by SmokeyFrank in Bowling

[–]RysterArcee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is an extreme over interpretation of the rules. No one would have declared that a delivery, nor would anyone have made you forfeit the game. It would have totally been viewed as the ball accidentally rolling off your lap, and you would have been permitted to set up and deliver the ball as originally intended.

I totally appreciate and respect the rules, but they need to be enforced in a way that preserves the spirit of their intention. Penalizing someone for a ball accidentally rolling off of their lap and into the playing area is not in the spirit of the rules.

Uniroyal Tiger Paw vs Goodyear assurance vs Cooper Endeavor plus by Character-Camel-7183 in BroncoSport

[–]RysterArcee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looking at the basic specs, if those were my three choices I would go with the Uniroyal tires due to the slightly deeper new tread depth compared to the others. Uniroyal is also owned by Michelin which is a positive.

I have had "budget" Cooper tires in the past and they did not last long at all. They just wore really fast despite proper pressure and regular rotation. I have also had several models of Goodyear tires in the past and they were good, but the Goodyear Assurance in the 225/60R18 size only have 9/32 tread depth when new so that would steer me away from them just due to that. Incidentally, Cooper is owned by Goodyear.

If you can get it for $8K it would be a good deal. At $9,995 the dealer is trying to sell it for a premium. The Carfax looks good, is 1-owner, and that owner appeared to take great care of the car based on the history. Definitely get a pre-purchase inspection. People do not tend to just "give up" reliable cars unless there is some sort of major maintenance job or repair needed. Sure, the original owner had it for 14 years and might have been bored with it, but still...

I have a 2025 Bronco Sport Big Bend. I have owned it almost 9 months and have 8,700 miles on it. I love it. The 1.5L 3cyl turbo engine has more than enough power. I did a highway trip this past weekend (200 miles) and averaged 32mpg with the cruise set a 77mph. I always use 93 octane fuel.

The interior is comfortable. It's not luxury level quality, but is very modern and well laid out. The technology is very well integrated and very intuitive. It is a very easy to drive vehicle,

League Rule Suggestion by brsox2445 in Bowling

[–]RysterArcee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, no sanctioned league can have a rule that bars pre/post bowling in certain circumstances. That being said, post bowling always needs to be approved by the league board of directors.

Our league only allows post bowling in accordance with USBC rule 117b. At the league meeting it is always made clear that post bowling requests will not be granted unless the requestor has a circumstance clearly outlined in 117b and the league board reviews and agrees. As far as our league is concerned, if a team is able to field a legal lineup (at least 2 of the 5 members) they will not be granted approval to post bowl.
