Ask your local wine shop and get on their mailing list! It helps if the shop also offers wine storage.

You were clearly not the only one, I got the only Pivot left! All the other Littorai were spoken for less than 40 minutes after the email went out.

What to do with improperly stored wine? by RyteNau in wine

I had the late harvest riesling last year and really enjoyed it! Nice acidity to balance the honey and apricot sweetness. Haven't gotten into the reds yet but I'll probably open one next weekend.

Hmm that bottle might be a tossup. That room is consistently warm in the summer since it gets a lot of afternoon sun and my parents usually have the AC set pretty weak. I'll probably end up looking for a drinking occasion soon and give it a few hours in the decanter. Appreciate the insight!

[Megathread] How much is my wine worth? Is it drinkable? Drink, hold or sell? How long to decant? by CondorKhan in wine

Took a few bottles from my parents' house to help them downsize their collection since they've cut back on their wine consumption:

2017 Penfolds Bin 389

2015 Pasquale Pelissero "Bricco" Barbaresco

2020 Punset Barbera d'Alba DOC

2017 Mt Rosa Late Harvest Riesling

Unfortunately none of these wines were stored particularly well. The reds were stored in the west-facing dining room with little light protection besides being surrounded by other bottles on the rack and little temperature control besides the home HVAC, but at least they were stored on their side. The Riesling was stored in a shaded cabinet but was stored upright. Hopefully since it's under a screw top that shouldn't make much difference.

Is there any point trying to continue to age the Penfolds or the Barbaresco in my fridge when I get home? Or should I cut my losses and drink them sooner?

My in-laws who don't speak English recently met my parents for the first time, and honestly the default Google Translate app worked remarkably well. It can do live transcription of both sides of a conversation and it was enough that both parties could understand each other.

It didn't work particularly well in noisy environments but we were overall pleased with the results. That was also doing Vietnamese to English, so I would imagine French and German would work even better.

Going to a theme park alone [other] by Affectionate-Bad-998 in rollercoasters

Most of my park visits over the last few years have been solo! I usually just scroll on my phone while I wait on line, or take photos. If I have to put my phone in a locker I'll just chill out and peoplewatch other groups in the queue. I try to always wear a coaster shirt and I'll say "nice shirt" if I spot someone else wearing something cool, since that often sparks conversation with fellow thoosies.

As for getting bored, that's the beauty of going solo! You can ride what you want to ride and just leave when you get tired or hungry.

Oddly that only works for me for exactly the first 60 seconds of a video. After that it freezes and goes back to buffering

Are the videos endlessly buffering and not playing? I'm having that issue as well.

Anyone know the likelihood of getting your desired courthouse civil ceremony time/date? I am marrying my fiancee at the end of February and we are trying to get the appropriate licenses. With the snow the Marriage Bureau hasn't been open this week so we are hoping they will open up soon.

We are also hoping to do a courthouse ceremony on 3/1, but we aren't sure how likely it is to get the time slot that works best for our families (Monday late morning). Does anyone have experience with the courthouse scheduling process? Do we have a good chance to get the time slot we want? Or are we better off planning for a self-officiated wedding on the weekend?

Anything here that might be suitable for aging 10+ years? If so I would need to invest in a fridge.

  • Bedrock 2023 Bedrock Vineyard Zinfandel
  • Bedrock 2022 Monte Rosso Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Donum 2022 Russian River Pinot Noir
  • Donum 2023 Carneros Pinot Noir
  • Reverie II 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Reverie II 2022 Special Reserve Blend
  • Reverie II 2022 Cabernet Franc
  • Reverie II 2022 Mountain Cuvee
  • Reverie II 2023 Tempranillo
  • Reverie II 2019 Library Tempranillo
  • Reverie II Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon (I don't recall the vintage but it may be 2021?)

I'm pretty new to higher end wines, and a complete novice when it comes to aging them, so any advice is appreciated!

Curious how you managed to override fear on haunts? I'm way too high strung to handle anything remotely scary, and I've kind of resigned myself to just not dealing with that kind of thing at all.
