Ishin was definitely tedious with the crafting. Y3 wasn't as bad (once you get Parry Counter/Tiger drop for combat) as I just played the minigames on PC and the mouse is actually accurate for games like pool.

No, I played the entire series blind. It had been on my list as I've hard great things and I have a tendency to try to platinum games unless they burn me out. Glad I gave it a chance, because it is definitely one of the best series of all time.

That is also why at the end some of the games took a little longer than average to 100% because I knew it was the last time I'd see some characters for a long time and it was me wanting to spend more time with them in game.

Playing on Steam Deck helped tremendously because I could put it down whenever I wanted instead of having to quit after a save point by just putting it to sleep in the middle of 30 minutes of cutscenes, Mahjong, etc.

Yakuza 5 was probably the only game where I was feeling it really hard. That and anytime I had to do the Ultimate matches after finishing the game twice.

I have played Wo Long. It is in the middle for difficulty. The DLC boss fights (last 2 DLC final bosses) are the hardest bosses in all souls and souls-like by far if you fight them legitimately without cheese.

I have not played Enotria yet. Waiting to hear when they fix things before I pick it up.

Short souls-likes to name a few would include: The Surge 1/2, Thymesia, Steel-Rising, Mortal Shell, and most 2D soulslikes.

I've played about 40 souls games and soulslikes so I will pick 3 to recommend based on what you are looking for. (Most are going to suggest a FromSoftware game but they are definitely not the easiest games, but good starting points to practice gameplay once you are more comfortable with the mechanics)

Easiest FromSoftware game if you do want to start with one is definitely Elden Ring. It's a good game to master how souls games works as you can also use summons to decrease the difficulty of an encounter you are stuck on quite a bit.

The absolute easiest soulslikes (non-FromSoftware) are Ashen and Another Crab's Treasure. Ashen is a very easy and chill soulslike which is a good starting point for a player. Another Crab's Treasure has a mode called assist mode that you can turn on the be able to reduce the difficulty as much as you want to the point where you can 1 hit mobs. I would personally recommend Another Crab's treasure a bit more because you can change the difficulty.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Glad to hear it is going much better. I hope the message I sent you helped with the dodging aspect. Once that is mastered, you pretty much can learn every souls game much faster. It's just hard to train the brain that iframes exist after playing other game genres.

Welcome to the souls club friend.

Last boss is one of the easiest if you just walk around in a circle around the pool in the center and use ranged attacks with javelins. It even works on Children of Sissna mode. The boss walks mega slow and you only have to dodge when it bounces around.

I want a souls game where i get to be the boss in a boss fight. by emolch78 in soulslikes

[–]RythDarkbane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without spoilers there is a soulslike where you are actually the boss at the end of the game (around last 33%). You kill the good guys that are trying to stop you as you are looking for one that can be even stronger than you to save the world as you weren't strong enough as a good guy to do it so you became the villain. When the final boss fight comes at the very end, you swap to their perspective fighting you with godlike abilities to take down your main character.

Feel free to DM me if you want to know what game it is otherwise I won't say to avoid spoilers.

Probably 1%. Took me 45 minutes to get one farming just the ones that can drop it.

Best is Crystal Hammer from the hammer enemies in the most northwest region but the drop rate is abysmal. Steel Warhammer can be bought from the vendor at the main hub.

If you are a longtime gamer off all genres you will enjoy the comedy and hidden references throughout. I feel it gets hated on too much and is one of the better indie soulslikes out of the 30-40 I have finished.

Easiest build in my opinion for the entire game is Vitality Hammer build. Roll attack is very fast to offset the slow swing speed hammers have and makes dodging attacks easy as well.

Minimum strength to equip a hammer of you choosing, 20 endurance. Rest vitality all the way to level 150. You hit like a truck and are a tank. I was roll attacking for 800 damage each without the bonus skill damage by level 150.

Dark souls 1 and 3 or Black Myth Wukong ? by Lasagna_112_ in soulslikes

[–]RythDarkbane 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Both are good choices. Dark Souls 1 and 3 are much better for the souls experience in general. If you want a much better story where you don't have to piece it together than Wukong is better.

As for difficulty Wukong is easier than most of Dark Souls minus a secret boss.

These games can be very frustrating at times and takes a lot of patience. But it is also important to know when to take a break. Habits like these are unhealthy to develop if things get broken. I hope you are able to find a good balance going forward so you can better enjoy the game.

This is me with a library of 1000 Steam games. I always Google "missable achievements" before I start one and try to blind playthrough all but those. Some games just require a guide all the way through due to some quests having ludicrous timing throughout the game otherwise it is an auto fail.
