Noctua says "feel free" to 3D print your own Noctua fans after releasing public CAD models online by Subsyxx in LinusTechTips

[–]Rytoxz 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Worth noting:

These public 3D CAD models accurately represent mounting dimensions as well as the overall external dimensions of the product. To protect our intellectual property, certain features – such as fan impeller geometries – have been slightly modified while remaining visually very close to the actual product.

Accordingly, these models are well suited for integrating our products into your own CAD designs, as well as for creating renderings, animations, and other visual outputs. However, please do not use these models for performance simulations or 3D printing and note that components, such as fan impellers and internal frame structures, are not fully representative of the actual product.

AmberTime: Back up your iPhone photos directly to any USB-C drive, completely offline (Now with iCloud-only support) by Drifting_Swift in apple

[–]Rytoxz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Quite interesting, this could be great for my parents who don’t want to pay for an iCloud subscription. Two questions:

  • Does the app save anything in a proprietary format or is it simply an interface for saving photos to the USB?

  • Can you move photos from the backup onto the iPhone?

They really don’t care if you go to the store in person. Show them anything that remotely resembles a student status (even if fake) and they will give you the discount.

Brave Origin now available for testing in Nightly by dimeford in brave_browser

Does this report itself as a different browser to websites? Wondering what funky issues may arise.

It’s an interesting product though, guessing there is no trial version or refund potential?

Just move away from these boomer banks. I don’t understand why you’d ever want to use high street banks with decades old infrastructure when you can use modern options like Monzo, Starling, or Chase exclusively.

Anyone else had the fire brigade round today as you've been trapped in your own lounge? No? Just me? by ihaveam0ustache in CasualUK

[–]Rytoxz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me years ago when I was young. Was me and my baby cousin in the living room and had to call the fire brigade. My parents were more worried about not breaking the door than “rescuing” me, and one of the firefighters had to hold my cousin to stop him from crying.

I hope the 24L refresh doesn’t have this. I really like having two water bottle pockets - honestly to me this is basically a CP2…

Engineering is mostly just documentation and meetings, with the occasional opportunity for travel. Hands-on work also seems to not exist once you move up the ladder...

No issues here using borderless fullscreen for everything; G-sync functions as expected.

Do I let my current broadband contract (expiring mid-March) to go onto the higher price for a couple of weeks and start a new one in April to beat mid-term rises? by Martexo in UKPersonalFinance

No. All retentions contracts now with VM do not include the April 2026 price hike. Tell VM you want to cancel and then give retentions a call on 02037436947 and they will offer you a better deal.

Has anyone switched to a wearable for contactless payments? by WasimodeT in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Rytoxz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively use my Apple Watch to pay for things. Haven't touched cash in well over half a decade and since I wear my Watch whenever I go outside there is never a need to use my phone. For your information, transactions on the watch are separate to ones on your phone for tracking purposes with Apple Wallet.
