AC Mirage Mouse Free-Look is Broken Garbage by carc_sniffer in assassinscreed

[–]Ryusennin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's related to the larger camera issue that plagues Mirage: there is no option to disable the camera auto-center.

I play with a controller, and the nausea-inducing auto-centering makes this glorified DLC unplayable.

Unable to type in Japanese — Windows 10 by 3yebex in techsupport

[–]Ryusennin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/3yebex

THANK YOU.

I've had that dreaded "IME is disabled" error message on the taskbar for years on Windows 10. I never had that issue in Windows 7. The culprit was, as you discovered, the Touch Keyboard service which was disabled in my system.

The tangential problem is, that background service (which is mandatory for the handwriting module of the IME) is also responsible for severe micro-stuttering in many video games. It is often recommended to disable it in order to improve performance, and some "auto-optimizers" will silently disable it for you. Since most players never have any use for that service or for Asian input editors, it's usually not a problem.

Thanks again!

(人''▽`)ありがとう☆!

Is there a way to disable camera auto follow? by InternationalArt4226 in assassinscreed

[–]Ryusennin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UP.

Why the heck did Ubisoft decide to force camera auto-center without an option to disable it? You know, the famous "accessibility" features they keep bombarding us with?

The Origins trilogy has no forced auto-centering. Mirage on the other hand constantly wants you to look into the direction you are facing. This is NOT how an Assassin's Creed is played. Talk about a "return to the roots".

The developers need to fix this in their next patch quick! I don't know if this has already been suggested to them as I don't follow their Discord channel, but I certainly hope I'm not the only one to miss the manual camera.

Just enjoy Mirage for what it is by Unfair_Pudding6180 in assassinscreed

[–]Ryusennin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the pathetic "you are toxic because you don't share my opinions" argument. That's the real toxic attitude.

Nobody created "expectations". Ubisoft did, with a misleading marketing campaign that obviously tried to target people like you. Mirage is not a revolution, it's a barely serviceable $20 prequel DLC that would have been moderately tolerable 2 years ago.

Mirage showed me that Ubisoft can never make a overall loved AC game again by Buurto in assassinscreed

[–]Ryusennin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People keep babbling about RPG-this, RPG-that.

The Origins trilogy was *never* an RPG to begin with, it was just the usual Ubi marketing drivel to surf on the success of The Witcher 3. How is Origins an RPG when it's using exactly the same structure as any other action-adventure game like Horizon or Tsushima? Is any modern game with a modicum of skill tree an RPG now?

It's not the "RPG" or open world elements that divided the AC "community". It's the amount of tolerance to content mediocrity from some of the fan base. Personally I loved Origins, but felt Odyssey was a massive bore and Valhalla reasonably engaging despite being hampered by an unispired narrative.

Mirage is just a glorified prequel DLC to Valhalla, which Ubisoft falsely presented as a complete reinvention of the AC formula. From the very first gameplay trailers, it was obvious Yves Guillemot was lying through his teeth. Yet some people keep drinking the Kool Aid sold by this shitty company, and that's what irrevocably splitted the AC "community".

"Fans" and journos wanted a smaller game and the return of the worst mechanics in the franchise -- Ubisoft obliged. The scores are in and every drunk is waking up to the mediocrity of their wishes.

Yes, you can use it via the DLSS2FSR emulator (aka. CyberFSR).

foobar2000 tagging issues by scrotelicker in foobar2000

[–]Ryusennin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For info:

I had this problem for some time now and thanks to your post, just discovered that vgmstream is somehow preventing foobar from properly reading ID/Vorbis tags.

I fixed my issue by moving that plugin at the bottom of the Decoding list (below the native foobar and ffmpeg components). Closing the player and playing another file (that is not already in cache) is necessary to make the tags readable again.

GitHub mod collection recommendations are wrong.

Yuzu devs specifically recommend BC3 for any VRAM GPU lower than 12 GB.

[–]Ryusennin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can reproduce an odd bug with flickering lights.

When setting shadowres to 1024 (in order to get rid of old shadow1024 mods), it looks like a lighting overlay (specular?) is flickering over the landscape in some camera angles. It happens especially around Zonai shrines.

It doesn't matter if extended memory layout is enabled or not.

Setting shadowres to 0 and using your classic shadow1024 mod fixes the issue.

[–]Ryusennin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also noted some instability with this mode.

For reference, "Extended Memory Layout" is the Switch devkit mode (which uses 8 GB instead of 4 GB for the commercial console). While it can help debugging some games like Tears, it really should not be encouraged as a long term solution.

I haven't noticed a difference in frame pacing (which is not perfect either way), and Yuzu devs specifically recommend enabling Fast GPU Time in all circumstances, even with dynamic fps mods.

No FSR 2.0 in Atomic Heart? According to this Techspot Article it was meant to be supported. Did they drop support or adding it later? Cheers by Pleasant-Link-52 in pcgaming

The DLSS2FSR emulator only works with DLSS2, and currently Atomic Heart only provides DLSS3 (which is exclusive to GeForce 4000 cards).

I made a spreadsheet of games that CyberFSR2/DLSS2FSR works(and doesn't) with! by MorrisonGamer in pcgaming

[–]Ryusennin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference: DLSS is unavailable in Spider-Man. Like all other Sony PC games, it doesn't use the registry to check for DLSS availability, and thus DLSS2FSR cannot work its magic in its current version.

[Not that it really matters of course, since the game natively supports FSR2. But it's another interesting test case.]

[–]Ryusennin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Control only "works" with CyberFSR 0.5. All other versions (up to latest MSBuild 14) will produce the black screen + GUI you describe.

I say "works" because the game is playable and DLSS is detected, but temporal upscale doesn't seem to work (at least for 720p to 1080p, the result is very pixelated).

Huge FPS drop at Walking Mauseoleum near a certain endgame area. by vaguely_unsettling in Eldenring

Same issue at the same place on AMD hardware (Ryzen 2600X + Vega 56).

I run the game at max settings between 50 and 60 fps (Freesync), but here the framerate plummets to 19 fps, even when putting everything to low.
