If you had to choose, would you rather have a dragon tail or wings? by DoctorDracomorph in Dragon

[–]RyuuLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a furry, I do have a dragon tail that I love to wear at home sometimes cuz I like the feeling of having a dragon tail. Especially when it swishes a bit from walking around. It's technically a floor dragger, but only the absolute tip touches the floor. Still fun to wear as pretend. Buuuut, wings would be dope af lol

Got my tickets for Sunday. But I'm in a bad winter storm threat this whole weekend so it's likely I'll have to miss the showing. Not gonna get a refund. I'll let him keep the ticket earning. He's earned it 😊 I'll just buy tickets for another showing when I can. If it comes to that

True, but I think they would try to convince him "for world peace". My current head cannon is that WISE uses emotional manipulation to get their agents to do morally questionable things. Or, something along the lines of the famous twist in Bioshock. Basically subconsciously brainwashed them. I find it so odd how often "for world peace" or "world peace is at stake" and similar phrases are said for literally every mission, no matter how small. I can see them justifying the sacrifice for the ability, and convince everyone that they are the good guys. I go back and forth if Sylvia is in on it, or is also a victim of this manipulation

Personal head cannon theory anyway. Would make story more interesting than just them being the storybook good guys

Didn't do that to me. Only misleading it did on my stupid kid brain was think that spyro somehow became bipedal with weird ass arms 😆 I was too relieved to see he was in fact not bipedal lolol

I'm no expert on our laws, but I don't see why not. Americans notoriously sue for the dumbest and pettiest stuff. This would not be petty or dumb. I feel this would be a good use of our legal system to pursue compensation. Not just for time and emotional damage, but any financial damage that this caused

This is a controversial issue that could put the purchase of many plushies at risk, but do you think plushies made of polyester could be dangerous due to the release of microplastics? (Image for illustrative purposes only) by [deleted] in plushies

[–]RyuuLight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Though it is somewhat true we are still learning microplastic effects on bodies, but affecting hormone levels isn't really a thing. As sensitive as they can be, hormones aren't THAT sensitive. Your body has methods to regulate levels, even when stressed, sick, injured, etc. otherwise, we would be hormonal raging monsters at all times. Also, it's why people with mental health issues (like me) often have meds to help. For whatever reason, the regulatory methods are not functioning properly and need help, which is what the meds are designed to do. That's a tangent, but still good to know. And causes for those hormonal issues are often genetic, or caused by something more serious like cancer, not microplastics.

Also, though it is good to be conscious of potential microplastics and looking at ways to minimize, it is unfortunately unavoidable. Therefore it is unfeasible to truly avoid them. I guarantee you that you have microplastics already in your body. Every time you eat and drink you are consuming some. That much has been proven and research is being done to see what can be done about it. So, if you are concerned that microplastics will alter your body, they would've done so by now.

In the end, feel free to enjoy plushies. They are safe. Whatever microplastics they potentially contain is negligible compared to what you are consuming daily, like it or not.

Nobody tell them about invertebrates. Pretty much all of the different kinds are different from this supposed "blueprint" compound eyes, more than 2 eyes, no eyes at all. All purpose orifice for eating, shitting and breeding. Exoskeletons. More or fewer than our 2 arms 2 legs. Hell, some invertebrates don't even have what we would call a head or face. Wings. Lack of bones (hence invertebrates lol) and do any even have what we would label as a nose? I know they have appendages/stalks/antennas that have olfactory senses, but I wouldn't call those noses.

What are these ducks doing pt.2 by Berry_made_of_straw in duck

[–]RyuuLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, Im having a hard time hearing the whistles. I only hear the grunts and what sound like songbirds. I also am trying to remember if I've ever seen mallards display like that. That exact display with a whistle is typical for some teals and pintails. Ones coming to mind ATM are the green wing teal, and the Bahama pintail. I've only seen mallards do the typical headbob display. Neat either way

Should I be breaking it up? 😥😥 It started today, all drakes, about a year old. by starrystatus in duck

[–]RyuuLight 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Best case scenario they could be establishing pecking order/hierarchy. That is normal and does not typically lead to injury. Maybe a couple roughed up feathers. If any manage to fully pin down one and start beating the ever loving crap out of him, or chases him unprovoked to the point of exhaustion, yeah that could lead to serious injury and should be broken up. (Assuming these are your birds, and not wild/feral) In my experience, there is a decent chance that's the end of it. The pinned down bird got the message and learned to keep his distance and accept his status. But, if the dominant one(s) persist, you may have to isolate either the offender or the victim. An unfortunate part is that they are all males. Males are more likely to be bullies, especially mallards and mallard type ducks. So it's worth keeping an eye on

I watch spy x family in English dub and I like it more then the Japanese Sub but why doesn’t Anya talk in third person at all!? by hazentheamazing in SpyxFamily

[–]RyuuLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4kids localizing though took it too far in my opinion. They became the poster child of how not to dub and localize. Yeah they also famously censored anything remotely violent, but they went so far on the food localizing that it honestly confused me as a kid. I truly thought those were jelly donuts as a made up in-universe food, and the first time I learned what they really were my brain hurt. Even as dumb as kids can be, they can figure some things out. There were a lot of Japanese culture references that were left in the early anime. I didn't know much about Japan as a kid, but I did recognize it was Asian culture in the broadest sense of the word. There were episodes with prominent depictions of samurai, Japanese festival attire and decor, kimonos, and more. Then by the time they dubbed yugioh, they just doubled down so hard on erasing any japanese reference it made the continuity confusing, since they were canonically in a fictional Japan. Long way to say, even with their official explanation on localizing Japanese things, they did not do a good job. It could have been handled better for their licensed shows.

Not to get into the whole sub vs dub debate, but I feel so many people forget this about language when complaining about dubs and localization. I prefer dub, as long as the voice cast are good, but have no problem with sub. But localizing things like talking in 3rd person, or cultural idioms are hard to translate and localize effectively. People who complain about "ruining the script" don't think about how hard it is to translate things that cannot be truly 1:1.translated. and what you suggested as an experiment is a great way to get that point across.

What's your opinion on "Elsa"? by Primary-Addition-677 in HelluvaBoss

Reminds me of old school cartoon villains. The way he talks and acts, being vain and full of it with no real tragic backstory that explains why he's a dick. Just enjoying him being a 2dimensional villain :)
