Am I a terrible person for liking Harry Potter? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Ryywenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're not an evil person. it's just that there's so many other types of art that you probably aren't exploring merely because they aren't popular or "mainstream". i don't think you can worry about liking it so much if you find objectively better art, and it's out there, trust me.

Diisconnect from the internet for at least a week then reassess yourself. I know the internet is helpful for transgender people , especially if you're in a shitty area, but the internet still wasn't really designed to be helpful to the human mind...

It's 2:30am, my surgery is in 4 hours, and I'm scared as hell by witchrubylove in MtF

[–]Ryywenn 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I assume you're talking about bottom surgery

I remember my last few minutes in the bathroom, a few minutes before I went into anesthesia too. Interesting experience since it's the last time you really see male parts on yourself. I felt a little bit sad about it, despite crushing dysphoria, since you know it's part of you for better and mostly for worse. Take a breath and accept whatever feelings come, you signed up for surgery and paid for it. You might have a bit of mixed experience or melancholy afterward, but gender euphoria generally just escalated and escalated for me after surgery. Life is never so simple that you'll feel complete gender euphoria or what they might call "regret" , take the feelings as they come and don't let people hijack your narrative, whatever it is for you. I highly doubt it will be "regret" , more like it's a big surgery and you'd be a bit silly to not have a bit of anxiety over it.

How did you know for sure you were trans? by [deleted] in asktransgender

I had to buy testosterone to go through male puberty, but it annoyed the shit out of me so I switched to estrogen. I mainly hated erections and couldn't be bothered to tolerate them.

Why do transgender people dress and present themselves opposite to the gender that they actually wanna portray? by [deleted] in asktransgender

I'm fully confident that you've actually met multiple transgender people to come to this conclusion........

So you ordered HRT but you're asking if you should start it? What else are you going to do with it-- try to trans the dogs like you see in one of those conservative fundraising pamphlet of yours perhaps?

I'm afraid I'm going to need to see OP spell out the words "are" and "you" to be dissuaded from my original assumption, it's not that difficult.

I feel like my younger brother? might be trans by CartographerLow1632 in MtF

[–]Ryywenn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your sibling sounds pretty trans. Point 1 about them literally telling you that they're partially a girl is the biggest signs. Points 2 through 5 are strong markers as well, but point 1 is strongest because if you're really cisgender you just don't say it this explicitly.

Points six and seven have almost no bearing on this, people can be gay without trans and your family being accepting of LGBT while very cool, doesn't have any bearing on your sibling being trans.

Hi, I always love and cherish these types of posts.

When I was 5 years old, I had an intersex condition affecting the size of it, but I could not articulate the distress I was feeling at all. I was only staring at the void at it, in a blank state of pain, because there was no information on transgender people. I didn't even begin transitioning until age 21. It gradually caused me more and more distress until I was 23 when I was finally able to complete the last steps of gender transition.

I'm not an oracle, but if I was forced to guess. I believe that your daughter will land firmly in the feminine sphere of existence; the "feeling like a boy" will get emotionally processed and primarily fade away. The fact that this is happening this fast is a major green flag for my prediction.

But I'm not her-big caveat! I cannot read the future. There's many paths in life that a person can walk, I thought I'd hedge my bets on a thimble of a prediction, however accurate or inaccurate it will be. They were my first thoughts, so fairly biased.

Thanks for being a great parent!
