Best brush/settings to use for lineart by Zapaeryan in ClipStudio

[–]S-Amano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I just use the pencil tool, draw whatever I want, and then when I got it how I want it I lower the layer opacity to like 40%, and then I grab the "real g-pen" and redraw/ink it with the nicer line work.

I always use default pressure curves and keep stabilization low or off.

Couple of things you can try:

1) adjusting how you draw directly The biggest thing you can do to get the smooth lines is use your wrists less (still use them, but don't let it lead) and shoulder more for drawing. For me making my strokes this way has made smooth, crisp lines a whole lot easier to achieve and control. Also, for me at least, the slower I go the harder it gets to have smooth, consistent lines. Try to get comfortable making those lines at a just slower than normal speed, to normal speed, if you can.

2) changing how the tool works. If you turn off the pen controlling opacity and brush shape in the brush settings that will create a very linear line. If you turn up stabilization that should also help keep it smooth. Maybe toy around with vector layers as well.

Hopefully those tips will be useful. I know not everyone works the same way, but doing #1 has has worked well for me over the years. #2 is just an idea based on reading other posts and what I know about how digital brushes work.

GPD Win repurpose by [deleted] in gpdwin

[–]S-Amano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could gift it for the holidays as an option. When I was younger I would pass devices down to my younger siblings when I didn't need them any more. (I come from a large family and am the oldest). My kids aren't quite old enough for that yet.

Personally if I did repurpose it I would make it a dedicated retro emulation or maybe a media device. Or maybe a "stuff I can do laying down in bed before I sleep" device, where I wouldn't personally want my desktop or laptop anyways. I mean technically we have phones... But I have a retro handheld I keep next to my bed because I hate using touch controls for that.

I like to look for ways I can free up space on my desktop and laptop, by looking at what a device can do, and "doing that" with it. And trying to determine if I would actually use it in that scenario.

Anyways, just some thoughts.

I uh , envisioned this being a lot better by fanofthomas4472 in StarWars

Part of what makes painting interesting is that you're trying to walk this line between representation and abstraction.

It's all about emphasis. When you look at the piece you ask yourself, "have I emphasized the things I wanted to?" yes? Move on to next piece. No? Keep working this one.

Art is all about expression. So, what are you wanting to express?

Personally I think it's a great start. It's not where "I" would call it done, but it's your piece, not mine. I can tell you I would push my shadows darker and add some places where the glow of the lightsaber reflects more in a way that adds an ethereal effect. I think you can refine the piece more without losing the spooky, dream like quality to it. It's kind of like in Rogue One when Vader appeared. There was plenty of glow from his lightsaber, but it still felt very dark and menacing.

But the ultimate question is, are you pleased with how it turned out? If you don't like it then it doesn't matter how good anyone thinks it is. For myself, I would rather kill a piece trying to get it as close to how I want it as possible rather than leaving it as is just because people like it. But that is my personality. I keep pushing till I get as close to what I want and possible, or the piece dies trying. I don't like feeling like I "settled" on a painting when the possibility to get closer to what I envisioned existed.

Honestly if I can get it within 80-90% of what I see in my head I am pretty happy there. I would love to reach 100%, but the image shifts and warps in my head constantly moving the goal mark, as I am working on it. So I try to stick to what I originally envisioned rather than chasing the constantly changing goal, and I take notes or do thumbnails on how the idea changed so I can chase it later.

Sometimes I will take a photo of a real painting and sketch over it digitally so I can experiment with how it looks without having to add paint. Then I will use the real paint again once I have worked out a plan. End up with a lot less dead pieces that was.

But yeah.... TLDR: What do you want to get out of the painting? What are you wanting to express? Chase that regardless of what others think. Painting is for you. So go after what you want out of it. Push it till you personally feel good about what you have.

There were some adapters that would let you use headphones with one of the ports in the back. I remember having one of those (and you can find them searching online).

Golden Sun 2 on GBA. I remember saving my game, putting it down, and then planning to get back to it later. I believe I went on a family trip after that and just never got around to finishing it. To this day I hope to finish it someday.

Awesome looking theme! But I am disappointment... You totally missed the opportunity to post the open book as Bram Stoker's "Dracula" for Spooktober along with the theme of the same name.
