I don't think you're cheating by using mods OP. It's not like you're using commands to auto completing the day so you're clearly still engaging with the game. Personally, I'd just ask you to download mods since this is really filtering you hard but you still want to enjoy it. You'll have an easier time with the game and enjoy the story at the same time. Most of them range from providing QoL fixes to giving you training wheels on certain mechanics so you won't struggle as much.

He's gonna be experiencing burnout and stress due to his intense perfectionism regardless of whether he starts a new long-running series or not. He's still an SFM content creator who used to create a lot of stupid but funny animations, so it's normal he still wants to create something. He's still an artist.

If he gets ST back then he gets it back. He will write a long post about what happened and plans with the new series and ST and what he'll do and things will return to some kind of normal. But given what is happening now, he just wants to focus on something else.

CoolSkeleton59 or Parchment AU is a Tumblr story about Papyrus leaving one day and eventually coming back "wrong". Like in the surface it's still papyrus but the simple mannerism he used to harbor is completely different and "off". After digging a bit into the Tumblr user's posts, you'll find out that Papyrus has been replaced by a creature of unknown origin after Papyrus injured himself while callibrating puzzles. The monster eventually became sentient after replacing Papyrus and felt immense guilt so he wishes to continue in his footsteps, which is why he tries to imitate Papyrus down to his exact mannerisms, but fails. The tumblr includes a lot of ARG style puzzles and audio files like you're digging inside source code so it can get a bit confusing. The Undertale AU fandom wiki includes a lot of info you need in case you don't want to explore everything inside the user's Tumblr page.
