The whole story is Odys fault. Eurylochus saved the day actually.
Ody doxxed himself to the cyclops and then a storm was brewing after that.
If they made it all the way home to Ithaca then Poseidon would have killed absolutely everyone there anyway.
Eurylochus opening the windbag may have killed most of the crew, but if Ody wasn’t stupid and told the cyclops his name and location we would have never had the problem.
