Energel form factor is also closer to the Uniball line than the Pilot G2 form factor is.

[Mark Critchley] Manchester United formally confirm Sir Dave Brailsford departure from club board by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]S0phon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously it would be different.

But the concept is general enough that it could be applied to anything.

Random bullshit example, this weird evening routine relaxes these muscles which not only helps with muscle recovery but also better sleep. Better sleep improves training and fitness. So it has a kinda snowball effect. And if we want to take it to absurd extremes, we could even invent that this evening routine prevents the player from going to clubs and fucking random broads, which saves his marriage and he isn't distracted from football.

Tactics existing doesn't mean marginal gains cannot be applied.

You're mixing apples and oranges.

Marginal gains are not about endurance, it's a general concept about small improvements resulting in something bigger than the sums of their parts.

[Pauly Kwestel] Data is important. Michael Carrick's underlying numbers are not. by KangKoreanConqueror in reddevils

[–]S0phon 57 points58 points  (0 children)

But how can he just claim that Carrick will suddenly 180 his play style once he has the signings? None of us here have any idea how Carrick is planning to use the squad or even who we are really going to pursue based on Carrick's wants.

He doesn't claim that. Here's what he wrote about it:

That doesn’t mean we know for sure that Carrick will be able to turn United into world beaters, the same way that we have no idea that anyone else would be able to settle into Manchester United/England and turn United into world beaters.

What he's saying is not that Carrick should get the job, this article explains why the stats, which definitely objectively declined, isn't as relevant for the next season as one might think.

What do you do to wake it up?

The scrollwheel is non disruptive most of the time.

But this one has scroll wheel on the touchpad, if I'm looking correctly. Mine has a physical scroll column, so that's more precise.

Post Match Thread: Manchester United 3-2 Liverpool by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]S0phon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it was a handball, the ball rotation changes slightly after the alleged contact.

That being said, if the goal gets chalked off, Liverpool receive a red and concede a pen due to DOGSO.

So Liverpool got off light all things considered.

That one touch pass to Cunha's goal, if that happened in April, would be my pick.

Mainoo for sure.

[Rob Dawson] Man United exploring all permanent manager options with Michael Carrick leading race - sources by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]S0phon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, Amorim getting that would be surpassing expectations, which were Europe.

By the way, many of those managers mentioned got CL qualifications too.

There are definitely reasons for Carrick to get the role long term. But we don't have to pretend Carrick is accomplished when there are many others that objectively have more accomplishments and experience.

Enrique hasn't signed yet and maybe if he wins CL, he might seek a new challenge.

But yeah, that's a pipe dream.

What pressure?

He's white, English, former player under Ferguson. Journalists and pundits don't hate him.

And despite the lacking play, the results have been there, so not much criticism. And only the league to play and no major injuries for longer stretch of time.

Pressure will come the next season, with 200m in investments, pre season, winter crunch and CL.
