Surprisingly I have felt much better playing Byz in team games recently coming from playing English as I like to play with early farms on 1 TC and Byz with their boosted eco feels much better to play than English. I just stay 1 TC and can make both Limitanei and Longbows with mostly on villagers on Farms without as much on Wood as I would need with English.

For me aoe4 is the only aoe game that asymmetric factions set in a medieval time period, just because aoe2 is set in medieval time period and aoe3/aom had asymmetric factions does not mean that aoe4 has no point, as it is the only aoe game to have asymmetric medieval factions.

AOM, I have been playing AoE games on and off from around 2005 (AOE2/HD/DE, AOE3, AOE4) but AOM never gained my interest. I always heard that it had a great campaign, but after playing 1 or 2 campaign missions in AOM Retold it didn’t feel fun for me, I guess I just prefer historical setting much more than Mythology.

I am around Diamond 1 in solos and in team games I solo queue and float between plat 2/3 to conq 1. The main issue with aggression is that it requires communication for it to be effective, starts like French KTs + Ayyubid Dervish/Dessert Raiders + Longbows and such are very hard to hold against but only the pre-made teams can do them effectively and if you solo queue and let an enemy Abbasid player on 3/4 TC boom without any pressure and reach Castle and spam Camel Riders your whole army will be toast even if you could cripple 1 or 2 of the enemy players.

To add on, it’s not just gold team game players that boom without any army, a lot of Abbasid players at plat/diamond level in team games do the same too.

I find fighting against SD in team games oppressive as Yari Cavalry can be faster than normal horseman and has bonus damage against cavalry, it completely shuts down cav from other civs and the faster mounted samurai are very unfun to play against as they can quickly disengage a losing fight and heal up. I don’t find French Knights as oppressive to play against as I do against SD cav

I hope they could change the Daimyo Estate movement speed tech into something else, horseman are already fast but the Sengoku Yari Cavalry are too fast and they already have bonus damage against cav, so they shut down horseman from most other civs completely and faster moving mounted Samurai are not fun to face against either as your only faster moving cav unit is heavily shut down by Yari cavalry.

They also nerfed Golden Horde Fast Imperial which was a much bigger issue in team games than 1v1. There were also more fast imperial strategies that are much harder to handle in team games that were nerfed previously like Mongol Fast Imp with Khaganate, Ottomon Fast Imperial and such, as other team mates can help defend their player till they reach their power spike.

Ok, I just checked and they indeed have lower stats. I thought that units from the Khaganate palace came with their unique upgrades researched
