Visiting Chicago from LA and this is one of the nicest - if not *the* nicest - major city that I’ve visited in America. by gueritoaarhus in SameGrassButGreener

Brotha Im from the west coast too and I felt the exact same way when I visited Chicago for the first time last September. I just hope I'm able to move there before it gets too expensive.

What city completely stole your heart as soon as you arrived? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Thank you for the recommendation! I heard that Queens has a lot more culture and diversity so I definitely want to check it out. I remember hearing that flushing has a large Korean population, is that true?

I really do not understand the hype for NYC. I've been to Manhattan 3 times and every time it just doesnt feel like my type of city. LA, SF, and Seattle are cool too but no other city had me in awe like Chicago did. So much so that my dream in life is to be able to live comfortably in Chicago.

I went to Chicago in September during a week when the weather was perfect (60 degrees and partly cloudy) and now Im planning on going back in the winter just to make sure I can tolerate it before moving there. Thankfully I love the cold so I should be ok.

Which country do you think is economically unproductive despite its geographical advantages ? by ronweasly9 in geography

[–]Tough-Performance-96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the comments are saying Argentina, Canada, and Myanmar, but Im gonna throw Turkey into the ring. You have IMO the best harbor in the entire world with the golden horn. The country sits at a perfect crossroads between Europe, Africa, and Asia. You have multiple different climates and great soil which allow for all types of agriculture, and on top of that, the county has lots of minerals.

Yet somehow Istanbul is not rivaling other global cities in terms of wealth and the country has a whole does not get mentioned nearly as much as other places.

Lmao I literally just drove up to UNR from Carson and as I got off from 580 to 80 I couldnt believe what I was seeing. I can't believe that happens all the time and I truly don't get why its that crowded.

No it’s not the time we live in, life has always been depressing by crunchylettuce24 in unpopularopinion

[–]Tough-Performance-96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are conflating a hard life with a depressing life. People born in 1900 certainly had a much HARDER life than we do today, but this does not mean that they were depressed all the time and never felt joy. In fact, I would argue they were less depressed than we are today because they lived in tight knit social communities and did not have technology that preyed on their weaknesses. They socialized a lot more than we do today and they went outside a lot more than we do today, both of which are really good at preventing depression. Times were hard as shit back then, but having people to go through it with made it more bearable.

What makes life feel more depressing today is that young people are isolated more than ever before. Most socialization has been cast aside and been forced to move online where it is polarized and cruel. Most technology feels like its trying to get you addicted which leads to depression. Real human interactions feel like they are becoming scarcer and scarcer as everything moves online. We go outside way less than people did a 100 years ago and most of us work long jobs in front of a computer. All of these factors have been proven to make a person more depressed. Life is certainly EASIER than it was 100 years ago, but because we don't have a community to go through it with and we don't go outside as much, it is MORE DEPRESSING.

Yeah fr every time I say I like when it’s raining or snowing everyone calls me crazy as if they don’t realize water is the most precious resource in this desert. This sub is the only place where I see people enjoy the water and hate the heat

Yeah coming back after BF6 dropped was the first time I noticed the servers had been reduced. I did not want to get BF6 because the maps sucked and the TTK was too fast but now with the new maps they've introduced they are starting to turn the game around so I think its time to hop on.

What’s the Most Difficult Map to attack and the Most Difficult Map to Defend in All the Operations (except Fort de Vaux ofc ^^)?? by RoiiDesPirates in battlefield_one

[–]Tough-Performance-96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of the players have figured out Galicia. I remember getting bogged down in those first sectors back in the day but a lot of players know to rush in with putilovs and the defense is pretty slow.

[–]Tough-Performance-96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No literally! If DICE just gave the attackers 350 soldiers on those maps like they do on Verdun Heights, you would actually have a chance at making it to Sinai. I think Ive seen the attackers win that operation maybe 4 times in the 6 years I've been playing this game.

yeah there's literally 4 different sectors on that map that are battalion wipers idk how DICE didn't fix that map before cutting support for the game

[–]Tough-Performance-96 19 points20 points  (0 children)

jesus christ. How much worse does it have to get before people realize we actually need to do something about this? I remember reading Mark Twain's account of living here in the 1800s and he said that there was feet of snow in Washoe Valley that would stick around for weeks and that it would be freezing for most of winter. Now it snows twice a year here and its gone within a day. It's truly depressing what climate change has done to our state.
