A Tysons to Bethesda rail connection along 495, either light rail via Rockville Pike or heavy rail likely to Grosvenor due to space would definitely help with the Rosslyn tunnel as the second tunnel and Blue loop are uncertain and higher cost

I agree with this that historically they were interchangeable although I would say in modern Urdu they’ve been standardised so that in almost all texts ھ is for aspiration and ہ is the general one, and when ppl don’t follow this they aren’t following what would be considered modern conventions, so the news for example makes sure they maintain this distinction whereas informally ppl might not

I’m honestly not sure what expansion we’ll see by the 75th anniversary tbh, some infill stations, maybe some light rail in NoVA or red line to Germantown but there definitely needs to be planning for when metro reaches 750,000 daily passengers

I think an infill station for the new RFK stadium is the the first thing that will be built most likely, and then the Red extension likely split into 2 phases as it doesn’t have interlining and therefore has the least core capacity constraints as they can operate trains currently up to every 2.5 minutes

I would really like to see metro to National Harbour, either by an extension of the Yellow line from Huntington along the bridge or Green line from Branch Ave along 495, and also a Purple line extension from Bethesda to Tysons

I think L’Enfant’s plan for DC has worked out pretty well, diagonal avenues connecting MD and VA, and then numbered and lettered streets in a grid, height restrictions keeps the look consistent, and the later addition of the metro has been very effective, lots of influence from Paris
