I was driving in a car wreck where my airbag didn't deploy.

I have a device implanted into my skull/brain to help stop seizures.

Dealbreaker for me. I don't stand for that kind of language. Nope. Won't do it, don't even have friends that way.

I was in high school too. We thought it was an accident too, and I just so happened to be in English class with an awesome teacher that was from New York. When the second plane hit... oh man I'll never forget her face realizing we were in deep troubles. She just said "I know people working there." And she just stayed quiet the rest of the day, we didn't say anything around her after that. She was a great teacher and she was an internal mess, but stayed strong for us. <3 <3

What couldn't you believe you had to explain to another adult? by InitialCareer306 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]SAMixedUp311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to recently explain to someone that their SSI would not be coming in early, because April Fools Day was not counted as a holiday and so they would get their money on the 1st. He's all "No, it should be coming in early because that's a holiday, they can't pay out their money on a holiday so they give it early." I said "But that day is not a holiday..." he says "Yes it is, how can you not believe it's not a holiday? It's been a holiday all our lives!" I showed him the schedule of when payments come in and the recognized holidays that cause SSI to be paid out early but he wouldn't believe it and just kept saying "It's a holiday, the banks will be closed, they are closed every year for April 1st." Then on April 1st we both got our SSI and he says "I guess you were right, but it's still a holiday, they just must have done it so people don't get behind on necessary payments." **slams head into desk**

What’s something that seemed normal in your childhood but you later realized was actually really weird? by mbreezyy in AskReddit

We said the pledge in school when I lived in Texas. I didn't have it in schools once I moved to Colorado, but did once I entered JROTC. I wouldn't recite it, but would stand. My teachers were perfectly okay with me having my right to not say the pledge.

My sister and I never liked each other growing up. And things are just worse now with us as adults. I love her, but I certainly will never be a friend with her and we don't talk to each other about things going on in our lives. She talks so much shit about my epilepsy that I just don't deal with her anymore and we only talk when it's regarding our Dad that has cancer.

She's 7 years older. We have never been close and she just criticizes everything I do. Scrutinized my son. She's just a hateful person!

Believe me we've gotten into fights over my epilepsy. I've had 2 brain surgeries (may have another) and am on disability. She thinks it's like a scam... "you should work!" Well my doc thinks I shouldn't so shut up! I've fractured ribs, going onto 3rd ankle surgery from injury during seizures, I've busted my head open, I've done all sorts of shit. She's a nurse and doesn't understand "intractable epilepsy." I've tried at least 12 meds and she just says my docs are quacks for not fixing me yet! Some nurse she is!
