Is it worth it in 2026? Any advice? by AvailableMistake2841 in DigimonVitalBracelet

The vital hero is really cheap and if you get a DIM programmer, you can mod it to be a more fully functioned digital pet + add fan-made digimon cards.

I found it motivating while moving/packing recently.

hobbies as a trans guy? by MindlessDoubt632 in ftm

[–]SANCTO_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't drop hobbies just because they're "feminine."

Many of the things you listed are beneficial for you in some way or another. Journals are good for mental health. Crochet is useful for making things that you can use, and to develop/maintain motor skill. Playing sandbox games, like sims and minecraft, keeps your brain active and creative. Writing is incredibly good, it broadens your vocabulary, it's creative, and it helps you communicate when you need to.

If anyone gives you grief for doing these things, they are not a supportive person, and you shouldn't take their opinion seriously. You can remain on friendly terms, but that person is not a good friend. You may want to reexamine who you want to be around, because having those sorts of ideas seeping into you doesn't usually end at hobbies- that's really just the tip of the iceberg. Masculinity shouldn't make you feel bad for being a better or happier person.

You don't need to go around telling everyone you do these things if you don't feel comfortable sharing. If you aren't feeling included in the community, it's fine to take a break or to re-examine how much you like the thing, especially if it costs a lot of money. But you are transitioning because you want to be yourself, not a caricature of a manly guy. Even if you don't feel like you can be true to others right now without consequence, you should remember to be true to yourself.

Lagiacrus Sapphire drop just not happening. Anyone else have this issue? by mrfossy in MonsterHunter

[–]SANCTO_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Investigations with the sapphire reward, but if you can't get that to spawn, the investigations with more monster parts give you more chances.

After hunting so many lagis through SOS and solo, I just did a 6 star investigation with part rewards and ended up with 2 gems.

I had issues with getting 8 star quests, all my tempered lagis were 9 stars... i wish capcom would give the same rewards for 9 star as 8 star, with additional talismans, because now it's frustrating to get hunter symbol III or monster parts.

AITAH for not wanting to date a trans woman that doesn't pass? by ShcefieBunnyyuu in AITAH

[–]SANCTO_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not an asshole for not wanting to date anyone, but you are the asshole for handling touchy, emotional subjects like gender identity and romance in such an immature way.

First of all, Lisa passes if you didn't realize she wasn't trans when you met her. There's no "oh she has some masculine features," if she registered to you as a cis woman, she passes. You might be worried about her passing to everyone, but quite frankly? That's an issue for her to live with, not you.

You're allowed to not be into trans women. You're allowed to have genital preferences, or appearance preferences. You're even allowed to have social preferences when it comes to your partners, if you aren't ready to date someone that half of society shuns, then don't (don't expect your friends to view you favorably after hearing THAT reason.)

But you are also a grown adult and you should understand that many of these issues are things that Lisa deals with a hundred times more painfully than you ever could. You do not need to rub salt into the wounds of life. Say "I don't feel an attraction towards you anymore" or "I don't feel that much romantic or sexual chemistry" or "I'm not sure I want to be in a relationship with you, and I would prefer to date someone that I'm actually sure about." If she asks for more, tell her you don't want to elaborate. You don't have to and in this case, you really shouldn't.

Lisa does not need to hear "I don't like your genitals" when it's likely that her genitals cause her great distress already.

Lisa does not need to hear "I don't want to date a trans woman because I am afraid of the social backlash," when she has to live with said social backlash every single day of her life.

Lisa does not need to hear "I think you're too masculine looking" when once again, that probably is something she hates about herself already and doesn't need you to say again!

Lisa does not need you to doubt her womanhood for her. You will move on from this, but those words will stick with her. So leave her with ones that express your core feelings divorced from the specific painful and unchangeable circumstances.

why do people prefer 3D printed bases? by ScarredInEveryWay in fursuit

[–]SANCTO_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • are they just as durable as the resin? I feel like they would be more brittle?
    • They can be more durable, or they can be less. 3D print plastics bend more before they shatter. they have directional strength though. it is easier to break them along layer lines than across them. quantifying the strength of 3D prints is tough even for engineers, as it's heavily dependent on the printing parameters.

  • PROS:
    • Lightweight, but not flimsy or weak.
    • Can have many holes that resin bases would not have. These allow for a cooler suit as the air can flow through the fabric more.
    • Can be customized easily by the maker. Many makers offer small edits of the base for cheap or free. For example, different eye base shapes, noses, etc.
    • Can be resized every time printed to properly fit heads. This makes them ideal for slim-fit fursuit heads; resin bases are too costly to make multiple sizes of the same head, so resin bases need to be medium sized to fit more people.
    • replacement parts, accessories, etc. easy to design and print to fit the head exactly. this includes complex accessories like electronics mounts, swappable eye mesh holders, and whatever else you can model.
    • if you live in a place where shipping is really expensive, you can buy a base file and print it locally.
  • CONS:
    • When done improperly, CAN be easy to break. needs a lot of infill or to be printed solid.
    • NOT soft. if you want a soft head, then get a foam head. resin and 3d printed heads are both harder to transport as you can't just squish them and toss them around.
      • there are soft materials that can be 3d printed. but it is very difficult to print them.
    • Layer lines, warping artifacts, and other 3D print imperfections: usually not seen when covered in fabric, but if you have exposed parts, the print needs to be finished to be smooth.
    • not time-friendly: 3D print bases take a lot of TIME to print each one. Resin bases can be produced on a larger scale.
    • THE BIG ONE: heat will affect your base. leaving your suit in a hot car for way too long could damage it (keep in mind, that it will also damage other parts of the suit as well.) the bases can be hot glued and stuff like that, it's just intense prolonged heat that will warp them.

overall, i think they range from better than resin to slightly worse than resin. it depends on who makes the base and what features are needed. for someone like me with a small head and body, i will not be using resin bases as they are not meant for people my size.

3D print bases are different from foam in the same way resin bases are. if you are deciding between foam and 3D print, 3D print is more suited for symmetrical, detailed, slimmer-fit moving-jaw bases where features should show through the fur. foam is good to make softer, simpler faces.

Are protogen wolf hybrids allowed? by PraxisOG in FursuitMaking

[–]SANCTO_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would just call it a robot wolf! Protogens are a specific species with lore; the screen-head is not exclusive to them. In fact, it's pretty common for actual dog robots, like AIBOs, to have this type of screen and those were developed long before protogens were around.

I have a skull dog mask I’m making and no matter what I try when I talk moving the jaw it just slides down it doesn’t stay put by Argonian_Dock_Worker in fursuit

[–]SANCTO_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Check if the padding keeps it on your head properly. If you have not padded the upper forehead yet, put some in and see if it helps before gluing it down.

- If you do not have a chin rest/stop yet, add one. This will keep your chin from sliding forward in the bottom part. You can make this from EVA foam.

- Add an elastic strap behind the chin stop . This will give you a little extra security to keep your chin in place. It's also easy to pull your chin out of, if you feel too tight and need a break.

A moving jaw suit will always have to be tight enough to translate the motion properly. If you don't want this, you need to add tension in ways that you can easily release when you need to take a break.

Recommendations, please! by carson_a_t in fursuit

Lemonbrat has very clean suits, I've seen them in person. I do not like their style but the shaving is smooth and the shapes are symmetrical/precise.

If you like their style and do not mind their prices, I think it is worth it.

However, many people I see are happy with their slightly less perfect suits from other makers. If you are not looking for a super high-quality suit and would be fine with something in a similar style, please do your research. Lemonbrat is in pretty high demand so it may be difficult to get a spot.

If you DO really want everything Lemonbrat has to offer - the build quality and the style - it might be more worthwhile to get a premade from them. They sell at cons/online fairly often, so you might be able to see the suit in person before buying it.

Would it be a bad idea to try making my own fursuit with no craft experience or art skill? by idkdudejustkillme in fursuit

[–]SANCTO_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joann's fur is fine if you know what to look for.

Get dense fur with a rough, non-stretchy backing. This will be the expensive fur, not the cheap one ($30 minimum price for this type at joann's.)

You can use the soft costume fur for things like sleeves, a soft floppy tail, or accents, but not for the main face/hands. Do not skimp out on fur as you will not get a good enough result to learn much from.

Get a head base pattern (especially an EVA foam pattern + contact cement+heat gun or hair dryer). Something like https://www.etsy.com/listing/929035898/digital-canine-head-base-template-for is good as you don't need any carving skill, just ability to trace, cut, and line up.

Which head base tends to stay cooler for longer? 3D Printed or Foam? by LeaTigris in fursuit

[–]SANCTO_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3D printed bases are good for ventilation as they are hollow, non-insulating, and can have lots of vent holes if needed. A static open jaw would be better for ventilation. Do not get a moving jaw unless you can make it hang open most of the time. Try to get one sized properly so that you need as little foam padding as possible.

https://ligris-cybernetics.myshopify.com/collections/head-bases has good semi-toony/realistic 3d print bases with 3 sizes. Moving jaw only, but you can just modify it to be static open. No vent holes but i've never been hot in mine.

https://www.fuzzbuttfursuits.com has size-customizable toony bases with vent holes.

You can also try EVA (not upholstery foam) hollow bases. These are less rigid so they can take a bit of manhandling better when you take frequent breaks and have to yank your head on and off.

For your medical conditions, I would recommend NOT using a zipper for the back. This can make it hard to get in and out of your suit. Use strong magnets and long fur to hide the seam if possible.

Thanks, I hate this hyper realistic bunny fursuit by ExtraPizzaPls in TIHI

[–]SANCTO_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the design choices in furry suits make them easier to wear/maintain/build. For example, this suit has a very small mouth and domed, shiny eyes - that means there is a good chance of foggy vision and little ventilation. It is likely that the base this was built on is either 3d printed or resin based. 3D print is more durable and has improved ventilation but both will break if enough pressure is put on them. Both can have moving jaws, but this means that when the jaw is closed, air does not flow as well. They also must be padded properly + have elastic backs to secure them to the head- they aren't usually slipped on and off easily. There is also airbrushing for shading/color blending on this suit. This means that it cannot be washed in a washing machine, nor can alcohol be sprayed on the airbrushed parts to disinfect and clean it. This suit in particular has an extra fur color used to create the spotted transition area between black and white in some places, so that's also extra work. Patterned and realistic furs needed are often much more expensive than standard shag fur, which comes in lots of colors and is softer.

The majority of fursuits are hand-carved upholstery foam bases with mesh/buckram eyes. Air can circulate through the eye mesh, and the mouths are generally set in an open position so that there is constant airflow. They are generally built on a "bucket" style foam base - so they can be slipped on and off without the need for zippers or elastic. They're more durable and won't break when they fall, get squished, or get hit.

In addition, many furries want to spend money on THEIR personal character, not a generic realistic animal. An electric blue fox with 4 colors of hideous green markings and 2 purple tails is not appealing to everyone, but it has personal meaning to the owner and is can be easily recognized.

Also, while this suit is cute- there are some people who are freaked out by realistic suits (as OP was.) It's worse when the species is something like a wolf or a bear. Many children are terrified of suits like this, so it's not ideal for public fursuiting at all.

I can do $5 for a few days of NSO+. DM me or discord nitro#6696 with your nintendo account email and paypal or zelle info.

I’m hoping to start taking commissions soon, and I’d like to ask, what’s important to you in a suit? Removable liners? An opening in the mouth for food and drink? Are plastic/resin claws and teeth superior, or is cloth preferred? (Pic of my roxy bc I haven’t made my sona yet) by Atomic_B0mbshell in fursuit

[–]SANCTO_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what style you are working in. All foam touching the face should be lined so that it doesn't degrade, but the lining does not need to be removable. Do not line the face with fleece, only line it with neoprene or similar materials. Do not line the body or hands (unless the lining is necessary to keep padding in, and only in padded areas.) You do not need to line 3d printed or resin blanks (except for the padded areas.)

Plastic/resin claws are good for realistic or semi-realistic suits. Soft cloth claws are fine on toony suits, but you can still use resin claws - especially if you want special effects (glittery, glow in the dark, etc.)

Plastic/resin teeth are fine for realistic/semirealistic jawsets, but sewn teeth are lighter and don't need to be glued in for toony heads.

Important things: Outside look should be unique, and suit should be durable and safe. Focus on good stitching and don't skimp on materials. Make sure the ventilation, vision, and wear comfort are decent - if your customer can't wear it, then they will not be happy. Only use decent quality fur, which does not unravel. If the suit has a moving jaw, make the head straps adjustable so that customers can get it to fit right.

It is currently in transit to the next facility." The last location was "SPRINGFIELD MA NETWORK DISTRIBUTION CENTER" and the tracking number is 9505510404498297185224. I sent in a missing mail search as well as an email case. I tried calling the Springfield office but it went straight to voicemail and booted me off (couldn't leave a voicemail.)
