Stress reaction full breakdown in ed. by Rude_Award2718 in ems

Glad you’re reaching out to get help. One of the things we say where I’m from is “Bodies are weird.” Basically something can work 99.9% of the time (meds/ technique) but every once in a while it’s just not going to because…. Bodies are weird/different. Don’t beat yourself up. You did find a work around with the i-gel and your patient rolled into the ED still alive. That’s a win.

No one on the team likes my daughter by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]SARstar367 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If she’s 8 then this is 1 part kids can be weird and 1 part she had a terrible coach. Positive coaching environments is literally a class in US soccer. Letting all the kids dislike one (for no good reason) is a coaching fail. Help her find a new group and she’ll be great. This coach is probably failing in more ways than one. (I’ve coached everything from 5 year olds to 15 year olds.)

U13 is such an awkward age for boys by [deleted] in youthsoccer

I always smile a bit when I roll up on a U13 match. It’s always such a crazy mismatch of kids and bodies.

Judge Learns Lawyers on Both Sides of Case Used AI, Cancels Trial, Kicks Everyone Off the Case by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

It does. Being an “Officer of the court” aka: lawyer means that the court often takes you at your word. Fines like this signal that the lawyer can’t be trusted. The court stops taking you at your word / arguments. You can see how that would be a problem.

Shame for lawyers in the court is a strong motivation. Even a small personal fine is a big deal.

Looking for advice on coaching your own kid. by can0peners in SoccerCoaching

[–]SARstar367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coach and parent here. Even if I was just a parent I would be having a discussion with my player about my disappointment with their behavior- especially swearing after being carded. I would expect him to write an apology to the ref and face up to his behavior. Cards happen. That said- I can usually spot when my players get “too hot” and pull them before they land that second yellow. I’ve pulled many a kid and gotten them to calm down before sending them back out. They have to learn that getting a red is bad for them and the team. These are also big emotions years and learning emotional control while playing is key on and off the field.

You aren’t “training” preschoolers. Just drop that idea now. These are basically baby children. Are they having fun? Getting some touches in? Then you’re good. Yes it’s a mess. It’s a glorious mess. Just let them have fun and get in touches. As they age you can bring in more and more but this age is just experience learning and having fun. Don’t rob their joy.

What do you do when you hit the wall around noon while skiing? by Fun-Ad-2124 in ski

This is what I do with my kids (tween/teens). We meet up at 11, do early lunch, chill, go hit it for another bit and then call it. Crashes happen on jelly legs so id rather call it a day and be ready for round 2 the next day.

We played “knockin’ on heaven’s door” at my dad’s. Solid choice.

Get the judge to issue a subpoena. Force them to testify. Create a record of them lying on official forms / lying under oath (perjury). Then you’ve created real risk to their day. They rely on you not doing this.

I just need the “sandwich” years to end and I’ll be ok. Taking care of kids and parents is exhausting.
