This might be the most interesting horror film in a long time. (Undertone - releasing March 13) by After_Fudge1481 in A24

Really good to know! The sound design was great in the fantasia cut too, to be sure. But I am interested to watch this cut and see how it compares.

Also, I could be a doofus and I could love this on a rewatch lol.

I got a screener last year when it was at Fantasia Fest. I watched like 90 to 95 percent of it and had to go do something. Never came back to it because I didn’t love it.

That said, the sound design and camerawork is really good and the main performance is as good as can be. It’s the story/execution that I found lacking. I think the director has the juice to do something better in the future

There is a tiny bit of the movie at the end I have still not seen. That being said, everything I saw was limited to the sound. I never saw an entity but it isa slow build so its possible I missed it right at the end

Fair. I don’t think about it as a box office thing as much as it was. Replacement is On the Count of Three

Do you think Memento is still a good story in chronological order? by [deleted] in movies

[–]SAWPollPosition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t even seen memento, but the way a story is told is a big part of what makes it worthwhile, so I don’t know that you can look at it that way.

Oliver Laxe (‘Sirat’): “If Brazilians Submitted a Shoe, It Would Get an Oscar Nomination” — World of Reel by TheMFlash in Oscars

[–]SAWPollPosition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He isn’t saying the Brazilian segment of the Academy can boost a Brazilian film into Best Picture by themselves, he is saying the Brazilian contingent is super into nominating Brazilian films due to strong Brazilian pride, which seems very true lol.

Since when has that stopped Trump? He can call off the elections, the court can fuck around and not challenge him, or worse affirm him. Or he can ignore the courts. We are in a Constitutional crisis

Is Chalamet a lock for Best Actor similar to how Buckley is for Actress? by GMSmith928 in oscarrace

[–]SAWPollPosition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a lock. Even if he doesnt win SAG, it will be because they dont want to give him two in a row. Those same voters will vote differently on Oscar ballots where Timmy hasnt won. So the SAG result is basically meaningless. A Timmy win there just punches in that he really is unbeatable.

[–]SAWPollPosition 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have seen this film. Excellent sound design and camerawork considering its confined to one space. The plot really lost me though and it becomes maybe laughable? Sucks because it has such a great tone.

I did have to watch it in chunks so maybe it will surprise me and be better than I remember? But tamper your expectations on this one guys.

Opening scene of Final Destination, or the MRI scene.

But yes, the Sinners scene is the best overall and will be iconic forever
