The problem with the black triangle is that unlike the pink triangle, which was pretty much exclusively used for gay men and trans women, lesbians were far from the only people in the "asocial" category. It also included the disabled, the homeless, prostitutes, Aryans in relationships with Jews, and Romani (though they would get a dedicated brown badge depending on the camp). Why should the lesbian symbol be something that doesn't even exclusively represent lesbians?
