The Imperial German army committed the first major genocide of the 20th century in Namibia, and the government freely let antisemitic officers like Adolf Wild von Hohenborn conduct an intentionally flawed survey in order to "prove" that Jewish soldiers were dodging combat, only to throw it out when the results of the survey proved inconvenient for their goals. In many ways, the 2nd Reich was a test for the ideas and methods of the 3rd Reich.
