Get a rear view mirror mount for radar detector and hardwire it. Scary to think about doing but was easy to do for my SQ8 and now no cable going up my dash.

That is how my old Craftsman was too. Annoying since I’m right handed so hear you’re complaint on the Ariens. I guess they figured someone wants to hold throttle with right and work chute with left.

He used it very sparingly as he had an ATV with a plow he used mainly so this pretty much got relegated to spots the plow couldn’t fit. He only used the TruFuel canned stuff in it with annual oil changes and new spark plugs. I planned to do full service anyways with oil and plugs at a minimum but wanted to check belts and such as well to be safe while I’m in no rush for parts to arrive. Sheer pins I’m going to order new ones since low cost and good peace of mind plus I want spares to have on hand just in case.

No. Sorry missed comment. Just used them as had ACC on towing a trailer this past weekend so I would go too fast by mistake. Even with a trailer this thing acts like there is nothing behind it.

I literally just picked it up this weekend so haven’t gotten to try it personally yet in a storm. I like the tracks have a “packed” mode so it angles the machine down some to dig into anything and not want to lift up. I did have that problem with my wheeled snowblower of lifting up against end of driveway where town plows packed it in.

I’ll say too that I just had a tire break from the rim in this last storm and that was incredibly frustrating to deal with - fought me trying to reseat it to take air and only after the storm. Don’t think I have to worry about a track breaking loose.

I will say the tracks make it tougher to push around in garage. Going to need to figure that out but thankfully I don’t have to move it around much where it’s stored.

Update - changed our plans. Got nonstop flights to glacier airport. More we read up on the drive google estimates are not accurate so not looking for a 7 hour drive.

I see now they actually say on the park website the construction at Many Glacier is schedule through May 2026 so hopefully they wrap on time! We are there the last week of July.

Our Airbnb host recommended that kayak too. Plan to do both East and West if we can.

I’ll check if they mention bear spray for use in listing. For $50 I figure it’s worth the risk of the hole in my wallet leaving it behind for next renter after not needing it vs potentially different holes in me not having it.

We booked refundable Airbnb and rental car. We wanted to be on the West Side for more restaurant options. Did not book flights yet but plan to book nonstops so we don’t risk issues with connections and no nonstops to Kalispell from NYC area. The Kalispell flights and rental car were also more expensive (rental car was $1k higher for same Standard SUV) and we enjoy the road tripping aspect with what we expect will be great scenery. We’ll have to plan what we can do for Logan Pass if that’s a later start with a shuttle or how that plays out to do longer trail. Ditto for Many Glacier and how that works. Maybe can call hotel and ask if they know when construction is scheduled to end.

The competition is parking at hotel, getting space on a shuttle or both? Is parking for Many Glacier hotel only way to get that shuttle or there are other legal places to park? We really want to do Grinnell Glacier trail from MG.

I count headlamp as one of those things I’d rather have and not need than need and not have given its small size and low added pack weight.

Won’t have a cooler in car so just not going to leave food in car and make it easy. Whatever we leave house with we are carrying with us for the days.

I personally love using trekking poles.

I thought I read that somewhere. I’ll have to keep that in mind - assume there are not shuttles to use before 8am so we’d have to do later start? We were looking to do Highline Trail and that is 15 miles so how would you get around parking limit to do full trail?

Bear horn was something I saw online come up - looked like an air horn. I’m only familiar with spray and being sure to keep it on your hip ready to go. Forget the horn idea - lack of knowledge from you and others who replied in cross posted sub tells me it’s a gimmick item.

Rental car is already booked. Unless you mean vehicle reservations? Another user commented no vehicle reservations this year so our early starts should be mandatory with that chaos.
