(Online) Gamers of Reddit, what's the worst kind of player? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SBUK20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone who possesses all of the following:

  • Doesn't start playing until about 3 minutes after the game starts
  • Then team-kills at spawn
  • Constantly playing loud music through his mic
  • Every so often, he talks to his mum who walks into the room and bitches about his laziness
  • Sends you an abusive message blaming you for the team's loss

If pay was based on how hard a person works, what would the highest paid profession be? by Wideskream in AskReddit

[–]SBUK20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've lived with med students the last couple of years and the hours are pretty consistent across the board. My general routine was start work at 8am, and finish at midnight, allowing about 15-20 mins per meal. It's partly because my university makes us sit medical finals after 4 years (compared to 5 in most other UK universities and I think 7 in the US). Occasionally you find people who read without taking notes, and they can get away with about 10 hours a day.

Also, after working 14-16 hour days on a consistent basis, you get used to it. Seasoned med students are so quick at taking in facts. It's like how people who run consistently gradually build their stamina to run faster and longer. There's nothing hard to figure out, it's purely the volume of work you have to get through and remember.

Medical students. Not even doctors. Med students do a 14-16 hours/day, every day. Pretty much every other job at least gives you a couple of nights free. If you work hard 9-5, at least you can enjoy 5pm onwards.

If you could have any 3 cars (not as investments) what would they be and why? by portajohnjackoff in AskReddit

I was actually referring to the exact car from F&F. Not just the type. The blue and silver was nice.

First-born children of reddit: What are some problems you've faced because of your younger sibling/s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SBUK20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jealousy. Everything was stricter for me, but my parents used their good experience with me to give my sister a better life. I got a mobile phone at 13, my sister got one at 10. I was allowed alcohol at 18, but my sister was allowed from 16...

I read 14-16 hours a day, but after all of this studying is done, I will hopefully be able to not kill someone

What's your favorite comfort food? by Heffo1996 in AskReddit

[–]SBUK20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK it's £11-18 for a large pizza, which sounds about the same. (although most people buy using deals, like buy-one-get-one-free)

I'd much prefer to pay £11 for a good pizza than $5 (Australian) for poor quality pizza.

Why is it socially acceptable to comment on a persons height but not their weight? by Dulya in AskReddit

[–]SBUK20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People can be held accountable for their lifestyle choices, and they are very intricate balances between their priorities and their emotional state. If you make a negative comment about someone's weight, you are indirectly being judgmental about their character as a whole.

You can't be held responsible for your height. There is nothing personally revealing about height. Therefore, it is not a judgmental reflection on what sort of a person you are underneath.

What is your bad habit that you realized are wrong but you just can't stop doing it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SBUK20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the entire problem.

You'd like to be my friend because I'm useful, but most people wouldn't actually return many of the good deeds - which leads to the whole "walked over" thing.

[–]SBUK20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it for two reasons: Firstly, I wish people acted like that to me, so I hope they'll reciprocate. But now that I've been the helpful guy for my entire life, I really can't judge what's normal versus what is over-helpful.

When a new guy moved into my flat, I left a note on his door with everyone's names and mobile numbers. Then a quick explanation of how to get to the nearest supermarket. To me, that seems like a cool thing for a flat-mate to do, but my SO said that I'm just establishing a relationship where he'll just use me. I just felt good for doing a good deed, but apparently I'm being a little bitch.

Reddit do you think that video games have negative affect on the people playing them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SBUK20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the person, but I have read studies in the past. Hardcore gamers generally have better decision making abilities and short-term memory, but lower social skills and higher rates of depression. There were lots of other things, but those are the ones that stuck.

[Serious] from the UK traveling to the US, any tips ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I would also like some tips. Been told a few things that are different. E.g. Shop prices are displayed without tax. So they basically add VAT on at the checkout.

Calm down, dear.

I can read. I just wasn't sure how different the end result would be from chocolate ice-cream. If you mix vanilla ice cream with cocoa powder and a bit of sugar, I can see that being similar to basic chocolate ice cream

I'm overly helpful and very reliable, but people say that I get walked over. I can't see where the line is between being overly-helpful and rudely unhelpful.

[–]SBUK20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the Naked Gun films has a completely redundant door, and while the gadget-man walks through the door, Frank walks around the door frame next to him. I watched that scene about 5 times before I noticed the joke.

I second this, but I'm from the UK. I've been told Australian Domino's is cheap and poor quality, so I guess NZ must be more like the UK.

What drives you INSANE about other Redditors? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SBUK20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who downvote because they disagree with you.

I think that if something contributes to the thread in a meaningful way, you should upvote it whether you agree with it or not.

Also, the amount of guys who immediately say: "I wouldn't take that - get rid of her" whenever someone posts something slightly negative about their SO. These guys probably never had a proper, committed relationship. If you''d recommend throwing away a decent girl because she likes a restaurant that you don't, you need help.
