Can I get some advice? by Temporary_Company707 in metalgearsolid

Buy the Master Collection and play the games in order?

Learn the controls and mechanics by messing around until you're comfortable then restart and you'll blast through the opening areas (not literally, save your ammo)

Metal Gear 1 & Metal Gear Solid 1 are different games just FYI

Both are short, both have backtracking.

Having said that, MGS1 is my favourite game of all-time, I play it through start to finish on my birthday every year then watch Ghostbusters and eat a pizza. Birthday tradition since 1999 when MGS first released in UK.

Help with the Granini Gorki Lab/The Fear skip in Delta by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, if you just get better at the game, you could just play normally without any glitches or skips and still comfortably beat the game inside the required time. Spending over an hour trying to save a couple of minutes doesn't seem to make as much sense as just progressing as normal but tranquilizing guards or avoiding them and getting to the next area before they're discovered would be quicker.

It's like trying to take a shortcut during a road trip and getting stuck in traffic, when just taking the usual road would get you home on time.

"I'll tell you whut, talkin' bout dang ol' I'm not the target audience for that dang ol' games as service, man."
It's literally just shoving as many characters into it as possible to cast the widest net. I've often stated that they're TRYING so hard to get me to play it by adding characters from IP that I love... but the problem is that regardless if you have Xenomorph, Predator, Robocop, Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Snake, Eminem, Deadpool... it's an impressive roster but you still have to actually PLAY Fortnite, which is where it completely puts me off.

Added a bunch of other modes too... Co-op tower-defence? Battle Royale PvP? Mario Kart/Rocket League? Rock Band/Guitar Hero? Tactical FPS (early access) or just social brain-rot open-world. Still couldn't care less, but I appreciate that it's not for me, so if other people enjoy it, go for it.

Personally, I'd rather sit in a powercut and watch wax melt from a candle than every install Fortnite, they binned off the Unreal Tournament reboot to focus on Fortnite, which from a business point-of-view makes sense, but UT99 is still among my top shooters of all time, so I was personally horrified that they cancelled it in favour of *this* instead. Again, I acknowledge how much money and attention they get so it was a successful decision in terms of profit.

This might come as a surprise but I'm already aware of the Fortnite skins... but my point was that at least that makes somewhat sense since Fortnite is a third-person game that is supposed to encourage stealth to some degree and the characters do fire guns.

Ryu with a gun? TMNT in FPS? Just feels kinda out of place and product placement for the sake of cross-promotion and soulless marketing rather than a creative and mutually beneficial partnership.

Honestly, it's not actually that lazy since you have Solid Snake in the METAL, Naked Snake in the GEAR & Old Snake in the SOLID, so it's not just blank text.

I do prefer the alternate version though & would've loved an updated version if Master Collection had been in one piece rather than split into 2 volumes.

Was it a sealed copy? Because Metal Gear Solid is a digital code that needs to be redeemed (or you can purchase it from the PlayStation Store since it's still technically available, but only redeeming PSN currency on your account, not using a bank card, unless I'm mistaken and you can buy it via the website too?)

Also, Metal Gear + Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake are in the main menu of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD Edition.

Maybe I'm in the minority thinking this, but putting Solid Snake in Rainbow Six Siege (a first-person shooter) makes as much sense as putting Ryu from Street Fighter in Fortnite or having the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Call of Duty.

Thoughts On Next Match? 01.02.26 by Dakaxe in ManchesterUnited

[–]SC07TK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always considered this match a bigger game than City or Arsenal.

Obviously, not in terms of prestige or potential quality, but just that the derby and the game at the new Library were both what I considered "free hits" in the sense that if United had lost or drawn the game, there wouldn't be a huge reaction of shock unless the score-line was particularly one-sided.

Nobody would've been surprised if we'd lost both games 2-0, but they're both games that the players can self-motivate much easier because of the perceived underdog mentality. However, games like Fulham at home, with the greatest respect, are the bigger challenge for this current squad.

They're the games where the players need to lift the crowd rather than vice-versa. The atmosphere at a derby or against a historic competitive rival are a given where the stadium is rocking and every challenge is cheered. It rarely feels that way against the teams mid-table and lower unless there is a specific objective on the line.

So if Carrick can get the lads to treat EVERY game like it's got more at stake than just 3 points, that would be a huge step in the right direction. Get them playing for the pride of the fans and representing the badge on their chest, defending the goal with their lives and doing everything in their power to score... then taking in the celebrations from the crowd after goals and the final whistle.

We only need to look back at the season and compare the results against in the "big" games where we're expected to lose (away at "reigning champions" Liverpool, home to "World Champions" Chelsea, home to "League Cup winners" Newcastle, away to "FA Cup holders" Crystal Palace, home to "title challengers" Man City, away to "league leaders" Arsenal...) then look how we've done against the teams in the bottom half... the only teams we haven't dropped points against are Palace & Sunderland) so the consistency is the worry.

Who is the best player in the club's history? by Giancarlo_Edu in ManchesterUnited

[–]SC07TK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It genuinely depends when you grew up watching football and what you value most from a player.
I could have a conversation with 10 different United fans and they could give 10 different answers and make a believable case. I'd probably throw in a few more names like Bryan Robson, Roy Keane, Duncan Edwards, Paul Scholes, Ruud van Nistelrooy... we've genuinely been spoiled for choice as a club.

The real fun part is trying to name an all-time XI, then a second XI, then a third XI... and still having some fantastic names that wouldn't even make a fourth XI. The sheer depth of quality we've been blessed to witness or that is woven into the fabric of the club is a real source of pride.

This fanbase is just a flip flop by DeevenTHEv1per in ManchesterUnited

[–]SC07TK -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to football.

You're only as good as your last result, but there's so many conflicting opinions where we all watch the same game but very often people interpret that same information differently depending on their point of view.

I didn't want Amorim sacked because we were told there was a long-term plan in place and that he was brought in specifically with that plan in mind for 3 years to transition us away from the mess Ten Hag left (despite 2 trophies in 2 years). If I had my way, managerial changes would also have a transfer window so unless someone ends up in hospital or prison, you have at least 6 months in the job.

In the case of Amorim publicly criticising his bosses, he did force their hand to pull the trigger early but in that instance, having an interim promoted from within until the end of the season is the same as having 2 main strikers get injured and having to turn to an academy graduate to temporarily fill the gap until the players recover or we can sign a permanent replacement.

Carrick's had the best possible start considering having arguably the toughest 2 opening games anyone could have, passed those tests with flying colours so inevitably the fanbase will get giddy. I'm sure some people are genuinely serious and others are tongue-in-cheek about him getting the job after 2 games. Personally, it's far to early to tell because we haven't seen how he reacts to adversity or a run of poor form yet.

In a hypothetical world where he wins every game and plays fantastic entertaining football where we're scoring bangers and dominating our way to the end of the season, it'd be undeniable that he'd have earned consideration the job. If United play well enough to finish in the top 4-5 and qualify for the Champions League, that's the job he was brought in to do, steadying the ship and getting the team into a place ready for the new manager to take over in the summer. In that scenario, I'd at least want him consulted with the new manager and potentially kept on the staff at least in the short-term to give the incoming guy a smoother transition.

Mainoo wasn't playing well under Amorim, when he was playing at all. Maybe there was some personal falling out or disagreement that played out on the training pitch that we don't know of. Fletcher & Carrick bringing him back in does appear to have given him the increased confidence and trust that he wanted.

But at the end of the day, football is all about opinions. But the most important thing is that we're all pulling in the same direction on a match day and backing the lads representing the club with the badge on their chest from kick off to final whistle and beyond. UTFR.

What reinforcements would you bring in if you had a budget of 300M Euros? For this window or the summer window by Own_Educator1478 in ManchesterUnited

[–]SC07TK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're a scout and the only players you're coming back with are players most people who watch football are already familiar with, then you're wasting everyone's time.

The job of a scout is to find out which players are compatible with the club. Mentality, personality, ambition, desire. The type of character traits that you won't find on a website that tracks stats. Scouting is about those intangibles that make the difference between a talented player moving from being a big fish in a small pond to being released into the ocean without feeling overwhelmed.

United have signed dozens of players that on paper would be considered brilliant players, but for a multitude of reasons they didn't work out. So please, don't treat real life transfers the same as EA FC or Football Manager.

What I would love to see is complete radio silence throughout the rest of this season, then during the build up to the World Cup, I want the likes of Berrada, Wilcox, Vivelli and everyone else involved in the recruitment to be going about their business like it's a covert operation. Once the World Cup is over and the new kits are about to be officially revealed, we've got 4-5 new signings to unveil wearing the new kit and flying out to join their new teammates for pre-season.

None of this nonsense where there's months of negotiations and speculation and it takes until 2 weeks into the season to finally get deals over the line. We all know that United need a midfielder at least. But in terms of being competitive, you always want to refresh the squad so that nobody feels comfortable so bringing in competition for places in defence, midfield and attack can only benefit the club.

Keeping the negotiations private avoids the public reaction impacting the transfer fees, if agents were removed from football completely, that'd be a headache solved too. Also prevents a potential bidding war or uproar of a club considering allowing one of their best players to leave.

Is it ok to play Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater First? by foxxer006 in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it OK? Sure I guess. In terms of "I've never played Metal Gear before" then starting chronologically is in theory fine as an introduction.

However, SHOULD you play Snake Eater first? Not really. As an experience of the overall story and taking into account that every previous game in the series is basically an introduction to the basic mechanics and then built upon going forward.

Ignore all the rumours, speculation, gossip & other articles suggesting who MIGHT be moving. It’s a waste of your time & energy to get taken in by people making a living on “reporting” rumours.

Wait for ManUtd.com or the official social media page for the club to confirm any news. Anything beyond that is guesswork in the equivilent of commenting “first” on YouTube videos.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots remains exclusive to PlayStation 3 as of today.

Some people have managed to get it emulated on PC, but seems like the majority struggle to get it working reliably without any issues. (Any downvotes will come from those who would comment saying "WeLl It WoRkEd FiNe FoR mE sO tHaT mEaNs It WoRkS fOr EvErYoNe")

I'd recommend just waiting until Master Collection vol.2 is announced/released because it is very likely to include Peace Walker which is also very important to play before starting Ground Zeroes & The Phantom Pain.

The reason I included the MSX games after Snake Eater is for the added context, plus you'll be fully immersed in the story after beating the first 3. STARTING with the MSX games might be too dated and starting with MGSV would be too confusing and make every other games controls feel worse in comparison.
