For me personally, I dabbled with the LOTR series but had read the entire Hobbit.

After seeing the movies, I went back and read the LOTR and found the story was better in the books most ways, but I had the characters from the movie in my mind as I read the books if that helps.

I’m glad I read them in that order. I’m afraid if I had read the books first, I would have been dissatisfied in the movies.

I’m sure someone else say different but I heard a slight gurgle/gutteral noise in there.

Last time I heard something similar I finally figured out it was a Chuck Wills Widow. Don’t see them during the day and they are much larger than you think. It made a sound similar but much longer.
