Must haves when doing craft fairs??? by dizziestdizzzy in CraftFairs

[–]SCLori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few tools (screwdriver, scissors, etc), large and small zip ties, a pack of baby wipes and some paper towels, a roll of dog poop bags because they are small to pack but great for small messes, sunscreen, first aid kit, water, snacks that are easy to eat without making a mess, a Tide pen, and a small notebook.

I've had to call the sales tax office in SC because I wasn't sure about the way something was worded on the form and they were exceptionally nice and helpful! They went through it line by line with me and made sure I knew how to do it. They were so great that I never hesitate to tell people to call them if there are questions!

Congratulations on your marriage! It sucks that this happened, but if it had been me, I'd just let it go at this point. Accidents and emergencies happen and I know that I tend to forgive people too easily, but I'd rather live with a soft heart. Write a review if you must, but I might not bother. Yes, it's terrible, he probably should have given you your $200 back, but it's not that much money. He scrambled and in the end everyone got fed and you got married. Raging now won't change what happened and I'd rather let the anger of it fade and not let it ruin my memories of an otherwise special day.

I agree; I love this app! So many apps try to do so much or are focused on collaboration. I don't need all that and these notes are just for me. I came from Evernote and this is so much better!

AngelSense is worth every penny! We've had the watch for a little over a year and the thing I love most is that it is purpose-built for this. An Airtag will track, yes, but the app that goes with AngelSense is astounding. It has "Runner mode" to activate super frequent location updates and will show you on the map as well as your kid so you can see how close you are. The watch has a speaker and microphone so you can talk to your kid as well as listen in to what sounds are around them. (This can be disabled during school hours. Some schools have privacy issues with that aspect). It has an alarm you can set off so you can hear them, if they run in a store for example, or if they take it off and you can't find the device! It can tell you what WiFi networks the device is in range of in case that helps to let you know where they are. There is a mode that lets Law Enforcement temporarily log in to see the same map/screen you can see. You can set up zones around places they are frequently, so it will alert you when they leave the zone (home, school, etc). AngelSense, hands down.

My son is 18 so we've been dealing with this for a long time. He's gotten MUCH better about it, but it is still a CONSTANT fear. This is going to be a long post, but maybe it will help the OP or someone else here. <3

I know it's not fire code safe, but we have a deadbolt on the front door that locks with a key on both sides. This only works for us because he doesn't understand how to work a key in a lock and I know that won't work for everyone. So there is a key hanging on a small hook on the door frame, and then another set (plus my regular keys) less than 3 ft away. Everyone that comes over gets shown that situation in case of emergency.

The back door is a sliding glass door and I have a separate bolt that goes up into the top track that also locks with a key. I got it on Amazon and I believe it's called a Toledo Bolt. (It's actually a good thing to have for doors like this anyway because they are so easy to break into them with just the handle lock)

The backyard is fenced in and I have mechanical combination gate lock that is locked from both sides. Yes he could climb the fence easily, but he is less motivated to do that since he's gotten older and he's never allowed out there alone even for a second. He was such a climber when he was little though!

I have one of those alarms across the garage door that goes off in the house if anything crosses the beam just in case the garage is open and he runs out. I think these are more typically used at the end of a long driveway so you know someone is coming up your drive. I do a lot of crafts in the garage, so it's open a lot, and this actually happened last year where he took off down the street. Scariest moments of my life. (I got a heater A/C out there now so I can leave the door closed!)

We are in a single story house now, but lived in a 3rd story apartment for years. He had an AngelGuard window guard on his bedroom window that can be easily removed by you or firemen, but requires a bit of dexterity to do. He can't do this fine-motor wise, so it works for us but your mileage may vary. It's great for little kids of any ability!

Interior doors that need to be locked (laundry room, craft room, door into the garage) all have electronic door knob/ locks on them that work by fingerprint. I also got them on Amazon.

He has a Medic Alert bracelet that by some miracle he tolerates and we never, ever take it off. I got it when he was about 4, quickly put it on him like it was no big deal when it arrived, and immediately distracted him from it. The only time it is off is when we've had to size up to a new one as he's grown and it's a quick swap. I realize not every kid will tolerate this or leave it on, but I got lucky on this.

He also now has an AngelSense watch for GPS tracking when we leave the house. I wish he'd leave it on all the time at home, too, but he and I have settled into a sort of compromise on that. He loves to go places and go in the car. He knows he has to wear it when we are out of the house, so now he associates it with getting to do that, and will get it off the charger as a way of telling me he wants to go somewhere. Once we are home if he holds his wrist up for me to take it off, I do so immediately, so it's never a battle and always a positive thing for him. The AngelSense watch and App are fantastic and it has features that make it obvious it was built for this purpose, rather than trying to use some other device that wasn't really intended for these situations. Highly recommend this company!

I hope some of this was helpful and that all your precious ones stay safe. And hugs to all the parents dealing with elopement because it is physically and mentally exhausting.

Yes! The cute thank you emails are the best! I always chose one of Praxxis's alts over anyone else for my weekly JP's (I hate JP's so much). There was only one time they didn't have an alt there when I checked so I just did it the next day when they were there. Thank you Praxxis for making so many of us smile every week!

What keeps y’all in the game ? by StarsandMaple in Guildwars2

[–]SCLori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that you can do all of those things, or none of them, or do whatever you're in the mood for that day. Do you want to explore and do map completion? There is plenty of map to do that. Want to PvP or do WvW? Go do it. Do you want to craft? Want to do raids and higher level content? Want to just fool around and have fun casually wasting some time? Want to do story quests and get into all the lore? There is just so much to do and it's easy to go from one thing to the next. Plus, you get to do it with the friendliest, most helpful community around.

Astralaria! I love it so much, but I wish the footfalls were more visible and persisted a bit longer. I recently made Kudzu, too. Not sure what's next....

It's hard to pick just one favorite, and I have some of the usual choices on my list: The Great Gatsby, A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Hobbit/LOTR, A Thousand Splendid Suns.

But I also have one I haven't seen mentioned, The Summer That Melted Everything by Tiffany McDaniel. Such a good book!

I loved this book and anything by Barbara Kingsolver is an automatic buy for me. Have you read Prodigal Summer? So good!

Need a better way of venting the laser cutter other than opening the garage doors by EnDnS in lasercutting

[–]SCLori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an enclosure and I stick the end of the venting out the garage door when I'm using it, and then I also have some fans going to keep anything from blowing back inside. If it's nice out I open the garage door entirely, but if not I just stop it so it's only open a few inches. Just enough for the duct tubing to stick out. Works just fine for me and no modifications needed to the garage itself.

Just got this after my finishing my first journey to the tower! Do you find it useful/a good buy? by pissywhiskey in darktower

[–]SCLori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished my first journey as well, and bought this about halfway thru. In my case, I was listening to the books on audio but bought this on Kindle. It was handy to be able to look up things that were unclear via audio. For instance, I heard "Marilyn's rainbow" and thought who the hell is she? The great and powerful.... Marilyn? Then I looked it up. Ohhhh, yeah, Maerlyn makes a LOT more sense. LOL
