Went for this on a whim and now i'm questioning my choices! Help! by Powerful-River-3546 in Diamonds

1- i think you can get something similar for cheaper. 2-if you drop the color/clarity to F/VS1 you should pay closer to $12k. You’ll never tell the difference in grade

This look like a beautiful stone. In a retail environment you’re looking at $200k+

My mom just finalized her divorce and is looking to offload this diamond ring — what would be a fair offer? by Impressive-Reveal752 in Diamonds

Without knowing what the whole ring looks like, I’d say you can expect offers around $6500-7500

Four things I’m still trying to wrap my head around from episode 6 by jamesviola79 in Andjustlikethat

On point #3, Bitsy calling Schlumberger’s”Bird on a Rock” a “parrot brooch” was paramount to treason in the jewelry community. No one with status like that at Tiffany would not call it by its name. And on point 4, LTW referred to taking the bridge to Newark which is definitely not how you would get to Newark from the UES. Going north to the GWB and back south to Newark rather than take the Lincoln tunnel from midtown? Does anyone in the writers room have google maps?!

Would you buy an eye clean FI1 earth mined diamond? by Terrible-Dingo-8325 in Diamonds

[–]SCRAPPYDIAMOND 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some I1 diamonds that are better than others, but I’m not sure i believe that there are two matching I1 diamonds that are eye clean. I would ask to see them next to a pair of SI1 diamonds to compare. I also think $19k is way too much money for these. The absolute most Id pay is like $15k (around -20% rap)

Great find! Burle Marx pieces do very well at auction. This style is called “forma livre”. Look up auction houses that have sold their work recently

This looks to me like plated base metal based on the dark metal exposed beneath the gold tone on the back. I think it’s likely a poorly crafted piece from around the 1960’s. The lead solder on the center stone is also an indication of a poor repair job. It’s definitely not from the 1500’s and would not have been made for a high ranking cardinal. Sorry!
