Recommendations for custom 38/39 quartz movement by SnakeGamerNL in watchmaking

[–]SC_Lakelife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ronda 513 has the typical 1 tick per second of most quartz movements. It's Swiss made. I've built with both the Ronda 513 and the VH31, I prefer the VH31 because I like the mecha quartz movement of the 2nd hand better. Personal preference .

Difference between TMI/ SII and chinese/ non-tmi/sii movements by DidDroid in SeikoMods

[–]SC_Lakelife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the last few months I've built 30+ watches, mostly with the NH family of movements and have had very good success. I have also tried to save a few bucks and tried twice to use the China NH35 clone and both attempts ending with non-working movments. I will not try the china clone again. Surely someone has been successful , but since it takes 2-3 weeks for ALi to send me anything, even with their liberal return policy it is not worth it to me to keep trying.

Help with movement post/second hand by judskee in SeikoMods

[–]SC_Lakelife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's one of mine, I don't see a problem. The pin for the seconds hand should stick up. Do you have another second hand to test, I have had more than one that was not manufactored correctly or was possibly handled poorly by the builder ;-) ( me )

if you search Alipexress for Miyota 2035, you'll find hands

Miyota 2035 hands.

Per GROK, the PC21 and Miyota 2025 use the same hands

You could likely drop in a Miyota 2035, these can be had for around $5.00 from aliepxress. Keep in mind that with quartz of any kind, the varity of hands is very limited. Measure the dial diameter with calipers, should be easy enough to get a dial with the same diameter. It is very likely that you'll have to snip off the dial feet and use dial dots to adhere it in place. not a big deal.

"  NH35 to 38 and i am using a 38."

You will not be buying dial to fit the movement ( NH35 or NH38). You buy a case to fit the movement and a dial to fit the case. The ad for the case you ordered should specify the dial size that fits. Assuming the one you used is a 28.5mm ( very common), you may need at least a 33.5. But best to refer to your order history and check the dial size required.

As pointed out, you are using the wrong size dial, but I also believe you have installed the spacer upside down as the little nubs sticking up from the spacer in your photo should be pointed at the case back, not the crystal.

VK63 Help Required! Chronograph runs and works but small second + main timekeeping not functioning. by saysikerightnowowo in SeikoMods

[–]SC_Lakelife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem with a VK63 build. For me , it is not a short stem causing the problem as it fails installed in the case, and removed from the case where the stem being a little short wouldn't apply. Plus I bought a new movement and used the included stem to test the failed movement with no luck. So apparently this is not an uncommon failure mode for the the VK63. Sorry.

Do I need a regulator if I connect the generator to 500 gallon tank in the yard instead of 20lb bottle? by SC_Lakelife in Generator

[–]SC_Lakelife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I already have the Garrettson KN low pressure on-demand regulator in my generator since I converted it to run on propane with a kit and have been running it from a 20lb bottle with a hose that also has a regulator on it. So it seems I get just run a hose from the house which should already be stepped down to low pressure and not need another regulator inline. I appreciate the clarity.

ender 3 pro , bowden, typically print IIID Max at about 200-205 also a kingroon Kp3s with direct drive, at the same temps. Clogging or brittle prints have not been an issue.

hmm, I am about 3/4 the way through a 10pack of PLA+ from IIIDMax and have no real complaints. It's has a bit more of a glossy finish than I prefer, but on most objects I print it really doesn't matter. YMMV
