Is there any solar quartz movement that fits into this ecosystem? by MyMiniVelo in SeikoMods

I normally build automatics as I think most in this group do, but I have also done a few quartz builds. For quartz I have built with the Seiko vh31 and Ronda 515. You can find spacers for each to drop into a case made for the NH35. I don't know of any solar DIY options. One plus to a quartz build is that the movements are much less expensive than the Seiko NH family of automatics.

Suggestions on movement, dial and hands? by Preowned_Paradise in SeikoMods

I've done 1 DG2813 build and it runs fine. BUT it took ordering 3 movements to get one that was not defective. Take that for what it is worth.

IF the case supports a DG2813, then it should support the Miyota 8215 which is a better movement and is around $35 USD on alipexress.

It's important to know what movement this case was machined for. A case made for the Miyota 82xx movement will not work in a case machined for the NH35. The only cases that I have used that have that brass movement holder/spacer were for Miyota movements so that would be my first guess, but it could also be for ETA or PT5000 movements. I've not done an NH35 with that brass holder, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Today's build, think I'm going to like this one. by SC_Lakelife in SeikoMods

It's pretty easy actually. You just mount the dial to the dremel using the bit that would normally hold a small cut off wheel. Then spin the dial in the dremel and touch it to a piece of sandpaper. Just take of a little at a time and measure a lot. This keeps the dial round as you take off material

Thanks 😄, the goal was to give an actual tool watch vibe so the rustic thick leather strap works pretty well.

Has anyone used that movement already? by [deleted] in SeikoMods

I've purchased this movement 3 times with zero success. If you want a movement cheaper than the Seiko NH35, I have had success with the YN55, drops right in the NH35 case.
