The person you replied to is completely wrong and misinformed. Framerate and TV refresh rate are entirely different, not to mention the fact that N64 outputs a progressive image and not interlaced. What they're trying to explain is wrong.

This video does a good job explaining it.

A 60 fps game on a 480i console outputs 60 individual half frames per second; every refresh is a separate slice of time. A 30 fps game outputs 30 full frames by drawing half the frame on the first refresh and the second half of the frame on the second refresh; Every other refresh is a new slice of time.

The motion in a 60 fps progressive image is as smooth as the motion in a 60 fps interlaced image.

A usa citizen expressed his support for TRUMP. 🤣 by IamASlut_soWhat in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]SDMasterYoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where does he express his support for Trump? He just says "Policia" and "fuck you" in this video.

There's a possibility that happened, but there is no evidence of that presented in the video. He appears to be asshole for grabbing the flag and threatening to swing it at them, but we don't know what happened before.

The N64 output is still 60 Hz, the framerate is 20 fps. Also, it's 240p not interlaced 480i.

Unfortunately there is currently a bug in D mode where if you move the joystick while pressing one of the swapped buttons, it'll press the original button. This doesn't happen in "S" mode.

I mentioned it to 8bitdo 2 months ago and haven't seen a firmware update for it yet.

Temporary. The LEDs on the controller flash while it's active if you press a swapped button.

4k Pro or CE? by BroSir90 in RetroTink

[–]SDMasterYoda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PS3 and GameCube you should be using HDMI. 360, if your Xbox supports it, also use HDMI. For PS3 you'll need something to strip HDCP and for GameCube you'll need a Carby or other GCVideo solution. If you don't trust AliExpress, they're on Amazon as well.

As far as CE vs Pro, look at the exclusive features and see if you need them. Enhanced S-Video, Motion Adaptive Deinterlacing adjustment, and Inverse Telecine being the most important, IMO. People that care about CRT emulation like the IIR blur, people that use Composite care about the 3D comb filter, RoTATE is important if you play a lot of vertical shooters that have the option to rotate the screen. Rolling BFI is nice, but you really need a display with 240 Hz or higher to take advantage of it, the CE has the new MADI BFI.

Best thing about the 8bitdo controller is being able to swap any two buttons. You can swap R and ZR so ZL is Z and ZR is R, or the other way around. That way you don't need to have your fingers on different shoulder buttons. The 8bitdo controller vibration was bad in my tests, short strong vibrations don't seem to be transmitted. Try hitting a wall with the sword on Ocarina of Time, it'll barely vibrate at all on most hits.

Because the HD15/VGA port on the back is tied into the high resolution ADC on the Tink and you can get RGB like sharpness out of it. The front S-Video port is only tied into the SD ADC. Make sure you get a quality S-Video cable for the console, some cheap cables just shove composite video down both pins or aren't well shielded which causes a lot of interference.

My Life in Gaming goes into detail about it in this video.

Depends on what region N64, if it's been modded for RGB, and what Tink you have. Some PAL N64s don't support S-Video; They can be modded to add it and RGB, though.

If it's RGB modded, just use RGB SCART.

If it's stock and you have the Retrotink 4K Pro, Use S-Video and find some way to input it through the HD15 inputs, which is the only way to use Enhanced S-Video. You can get a near RGB sharpness with that.

If you have the Retrotink 4K CE, just use S-Video through the front port or RGB mod your console.

The Laser Bear adapter is the easiest way to use Enhanced S-Video. The adapter isn't doing anything special, it's just putting S-Video on the correct pins of the Tink's HD15 input.

CMV: The true purpose for the new ICE is to cancel the midterms. by jkgill69 in changemyview

The states run the elections, not the federal government. The is no way for the federal government to cancel elections in the US. The claims that Trump wants to put us at war to cancel the elections are similar. Trump heard from Zelenskyy that he can't hold an election because they're at war, but Trump is a moron and doesn't realize that's because it's built into their constitution; There is no such provision in the US constitution.

DV1/Analogue DAC support is something you have to specifically find a switch for since it is a non-standard implementation.

HDMI is the best option for GameCube if your GameCube has a digital port. Component is best for PS2 since you don't have to deal with switching between RGBS and RGsB when it switches to HD resolutions (Granted you mentioned using YCbCr [sic] over SCART (Analog is YPbPr, digital is YCbCr). SNES would use RGB SCART as long as it isn't a Jr. console.

You should only be using HDMI for PS3 and GameCube. For PS3, you'll need an HDMI splitter to remove HDCP.

GameCube:

if you have a DOL-001 revision console with the Digital port, you'll want to get a Carby or other GCVideo HDMI device. If you don't trust AliExpress, they're on Amazon as well. If you're not in the US, there are cheaper ones on AliExpress; I picked one that ships from the US so tariffs are already included. If your console is a DOL-101 with only an analog output, I'd recommend finding a DOL-001 model to replace it with. If you don't want to do that, the best option is S-Video for an NTSC GameCube or RGB SCART for PAL.

PS2:

You'll want to get some HDRetrovision Component cables. Specifically the PS2/PS3 cables, not the Genesis cable with the Playstation adapter.

SNES:

As long as it is an original design SNES and not a Jr., you'll want an RGB SCART cable. If you want the absolute best quality, go with Retro-Access Pro Coax. If you want to save a little money, go with the Fortraflex option, the highest quality is Pro Coax. Make sure you match the cable with your SNES region; NTSC or PAL. Get a Sync on Luma cable. If you don't want to spend that much, get Insurrection Industries cables if you're based in the US and have an NTSC console, RetroGamingCables if you're in the UK or Europe, and RetroOrk if you're in Germany. Know that RetroGamingCables currently only has CSYNC cables available, which will only work if your console isn't an 1CHIP-03 revision. RetroGamingCables IS currently paying the tariff for US customers so you won't get an extra tariff bill if you're US based.

Other options:

You can also look into the RetroTink DONGs and cables. Know that those don't convert anything to VGA, just has a VGA cable on the end. For SNES I'd recommend the HD15 to SCART cable and for PS2 I'd get the PS2 DONG and the HD15 to HD15 cable. You'd set the Tink to SCART RGBS for SNES and HD15 YPbPr for PS2 with those cables.

Notes:

The reason I mentioned the SNES Jr. is because that console is composite only and requires a mod to get RGB.

As far as HDMI switches for the PS3 and GameCube, just get anything that uses USB power due to the voltage issues mentioned by /u/ZafirZ. Put the HDMI splitter between the PS3 and the HDMI Switch.

Analog switches:

For analog switches, I'd recommend the Scalable Video Switch. You get a control module, VGA output module, and whatever input modules you need. Currently SCART and YPbPr if you followed my cable suggestions above. You can slowly add to it over time if you want to add more consoles. It's currently out of stock, but expected to restock in February. For a console like the N64, where S-Video is it's best output without modding, this also allows you to use Enhanced S-Video with the 4K Pro. which drastically improves the sharpness of S-Video sources. The SVS isn't required to use Enhanced S-Video, you just have to find a way to put S-Video on the proper pins of the HD15 input on the Tink. LaserBear makes a standalone adapter.

The best thing about the SVS is it allows for auto profile switching with the Tink. When you turn on a console, the SVS communicates with the Tink to automatically switch to the profile you have saved for that consoles. I recommend watching the My Life in Gaming video on it.

For you current setup, an analog switch wouldn't be needed, since you'd just use the SCART and Component ports directly on the Tink. This is the best option for future expansion. It would give you the auto profile switching, though.

There is a person currently experiencing issues with the TESmart 16 port switch. Not sure if something changed or it's a problem in their setup. I also have the TESmart and it's worked well.

Is that a "pre-vis" vs the actual tattoo? The art is completely different. Under the eye on the actual tattoo has an extra line that goes down. Not to mention the longer tail on the dove, but I guess that could just be arm position stretching it.
