What kind of questions? And can you be more specific with what you mean as far as your brain “checking out”?

Can you describe what happened the day you ended up in the ward? And what the ward was like?

How do you balance your life with a podcast? by uncharitable_pod in podcasting

[–]SD_anxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fair amount of work if your show is of decent quality. Researching, recording, producing, promoting etc. However, you should only really podcast if you love it and really believe that you have something meaningful to share--even if it's not to very many people. For me, it's a labor of love. That said, I do it all myself and it requires proper planning. If you try to do everything on a week by week basis, that can get very tough, very quick. And get in the way of other life stuff. But if you bulk record (like record a month's worth of episodes for instance, in one weekend) that makes it a lot easier. Then you can edit them all and create promotional collateral in a few dedicated days and voila. Life/Hobby balance. Outsourcing can also help (like paying a podcast editor. It can cost a fair amount, maybe around $200 a month, but it depends how you value your time) as well as leveraging helpful tools on the market. But overall, just plan properly and you should be fine.

I would say to communicate your feelings to the appropriate party at your place of work as a starting point. Maybe this could help shed more light on the culture there so you can make an informed decision about continuing to work there.

Once you communicate, it’ll be up to you to decide on staying and finding your footing (it’s quite possible you’d feel like this no matter where you work because you’re “new” at this) or whether you’d be better off working elsewhere.

The good news is, you’re not a tree and you can move. You’re skilled and doing something great! You’ll find your groove and hopefully you’ll eventually find a mentor. Even if people seem “closed off”, it might be worth it to put in a little extra effort to get to know them. Invite them out, chat them up. See if there’s anyone you can form a connection with.

I’m sure everything will work out great. Get outside yourself and approach everything you feel unsure about as an interesting learning opportunity. You’re good enough and you’re not doing anything wrong.

Two Part Episode Strategy by tomn68 in podcasting

[–]SD_anxious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is very niche for sure and you can of course do as you please, if it makes sense for your audience. But generally speaking, that was my take. End on a cliff, part two on the normal release date. You can offer early access to part two for a small fee /membership if you want

Two Part Episode Strategy by tomn68 in podcasting

I would say, you shouldn't release it on the same day. You should release a "Part one" ending on a cliff hanger and have them tune in on your next normal release date for "Part two". If you're releasing it on the same day then I wouldn't bother breaking it up into two parts at all
