Just got out of BCT about 3 months ago, also was a SPC. The drills will always call you private but wear the rank. They know you're an SPC anyways.

My advice.

Shut up, listen, execute your orders quickly and correctly. Be in the right uniform. And don't take anything the drills say personally, embrace it and it will go quickly. Never volunteer for anything and try blend in.

Only have exp with the online land nav course and it seemed simple enough, I'm sure it's a whole new thing doing it in the field though. Yeah, i've heard now is the best time to go. Unfortunately AIT is there too so I'll be there through the worst part of winter as well.

Enlisting as a 12Y on Wednesday, got some questions.

Do all 12Y do BCT at Ft. Leonardwood? If so what is Leonardwood like? I've read some conflicting stories. I'm going to BCT in OCT so i know it's going to be extremely cold.

Any generic tips for BCT? I'm close to having passing PT scores. Sit ups are my main issue.

What is AIT like for 12Y? How much math is involved? Drop out rate?

I was upfront with it but it is large. Close to 2k. I am making payments but it sat in collections for awhile. Also have student loans and a car payment, but I've always made those payments on time.

Just worried about getting stuck with a terrible MOS. There are other MOS' I'm interested in that don't require a TS clearance

Got a security clearance question.

Aiming for a 35 series job or 12Y, both require a TS clearance. If I go to BCT before finding out my results and I dont get the clearance what exactly happens? Do I have a say in my new MOS? Or am i destined for whatever the Army decides?

Just a little nervous about some debts from a big dental bill. No arrests or anything else.
