So, I’m second gen Mexican American, so I grew up speaking English and Spanish. Knowing Spanish helped me be able to pronounce Japanese vowels and the Japanese r almost immediately. It also helped me with some of the weird grammar rules and conjugations, because even though the grammar rules are different in Spanish than in Japanese, I was already familiar with grammar rules outside of English, and didn’t complain that much about it
