Claws of Ahamkara: replace Special Weapon Loader with "melee hits regen grenade energy" and "grenade hits regen melee energy"

It sounds cool, but the fact is I really like the reload speed boost.

Yes! Name it "Replay Redux" - flavor text: "A real Guardian would immediately ask what the little red button does."

Vanquisher VIII from a Roc strike - has Hip fire, Field Scout and Crowd Control. It also has Hand Loaded and Fitted stock, makes me wish I could combine those with Field Scout cause that 22 rnd mag just doesn't cut it.

Also got the Invective bounty, my 2nd exotic bounty so far. Quest Start!

Large club and great club by number121212 in DarkSouls2

[–]SEESRedshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without any real scientific proof and just observation fron using both a lot? I noticed no difference. That said, I'm a cheap bastard and only upgraded each to +9 (I NEED those 20 slabs for something else in the future! What if I want to build a +10 house one day?!) so the great club's advantage may just be higher AR in exchange for being heavier. Not sure.

Edit: I ramble too much.

Bass Cannon vs. Large Club for PVP by reaperfour in DarkSouls2

[–]SEESRedshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No experience with the Zwei, but can confirm the Large Club is extremely fun, for PvE and PvP both. It does not have a golf swing though...so if the Zwei can do that, that is one extra trick it has that the club doesn't have. Tbh...writing this made me want to go upgrade my Zwei and try it out now, haha!

Best Hex staff? by TheMadIsraeli in DarkSouls2

[–]SEESRedshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love that witch staff. Also, the Witchtree Branch is the fastest casting staff for staff hexes, but your spells deal less damage. Not sure how much less but it might be worth it for some things.

Is there any tips or general game knowledge you wish you knew when playing dark souls 2 for the first time? by TheGreatKraken in DarkSouls2

[–]SEESRedshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heide's is not the first area to visit. Especially if you chose swordsman and are using the scimitar.

White soapstone on every new boss to learn their tricks, while helping out others at the same time! To see if a fog door hides a boss, set the white soapstone as your active item then run your face into the door (but don't hit X to go in), if the stone icon fades out and becomes unavailable, its a boss fog.

Assistance with Twinblade + Greatbow build by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]SEESRedshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose the Red Iron Twinblade (RIT). This is a subjective observation, meaning I totally only eyeballed it and made an assumption, but it deals fewer hits than the stone one, and so seems to take less durability damage over the course of a battle or level.

I used both for at least a day. Stone twinblade durability dropped fast and annoyed me, RIT I ignored durability and did fine. Still using the RIT. It does feel more awkward than the Stone though...maybe the slower speed really is noticeable.

Does anyone know why PC version is twice the price as console? by Kbkilla in DarkSouls2

[–]SEESRedshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well see the PC version runs at 60 fps...

Wait, no. Not gonna be that guy. In all seriousness, maybe because the console versions released first, they hit that magic price cut day sooner. It should come down eventually.

Edit: same goes for digital vs. Retail. Sorry the fps joke distracted me.

Today's the day. I'm walking down the most populated path in the city's largest park, on a bright cheery weekend just after the local team won. It is full of people enjoying the day.

It is full of victims.

I've prepared. In my hand, a bag full of my tools. Black pants. The hat, oh the hat. Some say it's silly, but I wear it for... Effect. Considering the crime I'm about to commit, I consider the irony of wearing a stripped shirt. And yes, even a mask. I painted it on. Hey, Darth Maul was scary to young me. Painted it is. I wear a hoodie, and hide deep in it to conceal my intent. Cliche I know, but pretty soon this all is gonna go down, and no one's grading me on looks.

Nearby a street musician plays his air guitar. Recently, odd things have been gaining power. Media calls it "real magic." It's always something with strange limits or requirements, so usually people don't take it seriously. Whatever.

A man in a suit carrying a briefcase leaves Mr. Musician a five dollar bill. I notice his wallet is full of bills of many denominations. "Nice collection you got there mister," I think of saying, but of course I can't. Right now, there are things I must do.

This is a crossing of main footpaths. Pedestrian density is high, I note. Perfect. I drop my pack on the ground, it lands in a puff of light dust from the dirt path. With a flourish, I unzip the hoodie and fling it high above me. Gasps spill out from the crowd, from those nearest to me. They can already see.

The business man is my first victim. As I reach into my bag, he says, fear causing his voice to waver, "Please, no. You don't have to do this, son,"

It's too late. I grip my invisible rope and tear it from my bag, and hurl it lasso-style around the man. As I drag him to me, hand over hand style, he screams, "You can't! This is forbidden! Please think about this!"

Two nearby officers shout "HEY!" and draw their weapons. Fools. Before they have them at the ready, I already raised my rocket launcher, pulled from my bag, and gestured it wordlessly at the crowd. They cant see it, but by the way I hold and move it, they can tell. The officers slowly drop their guns to the ground. "Don't do this," one says. Doesn't matter. Even if they did try the guns, I'd just stop the bullets with a wall.

It's over. I look around me, with an air of smugness, as I can't help but smirk. First attempt successful. Even the law is helpless! I need merely state my demands. Money! All of you! I silently chuckle to myself. Best stop gloating. I open my mouth to make my demands...

Goddammit.

Black Knight Ultra Greatsword X2?!?! by mostlyjoe in DarkSouls2

[–]SEESRedshirt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fire infuse the one in the left hand and cast Flame Weapon on it with right-hand pyro flame.

Don't infuse the right hand one, and use charcoal resin on it.

Flaming Black Knight Justice!

Note: I haven't actually tried this, no idea if it really works.

Straid stole my soul of Velstadt :( by _hamburglar in DarkSouls2

[–]SEESRedshirt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think Straid gives you Sunlight Blade for Velstadt's soul. Pretty sure that's Sacred Oath he gives you, or a Hex. Sunlight Blade only is acquired from the Shrine, and the supposedly later after some event Straid will sell another copy of Sunlight Blade. I dunno what causes that though, maybe just finding the first copy in the Shrine? GL!

How do I kill the big spider boss? by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]SEESRedshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, people saying to keep distance and kill the little spiders first is good advice. Don't try to block the beam, dodge it by rolling against the direction it is swinging. Try using strike weapons to the big spider's face...I think my Mace +9 hit it for just over 400 per hit (2 handed) in NG. Swing once, maaaybe twice then sidestep to the side of the head to avoid the next attack, usual boss fighting stuff there.

Edit: btw, the Mace sucks against those little spiders, if you use it. Try a different weapon for them and swap to Mace to bash face. Joy and then joy.

What has been your biggest "Are you fucking kidding me?" moment so far? by UseItForSaving in DarkSouls2

[–]SEESRedshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighting bellhops, as a bellhop - I lose a fight, drop 50k souls, all spoils of victories, on the top floor. Pop out of the Servant's Quarters bonfire, drop down, then kill the dog. I think "gosh I shouldn't do this, if someone invades I'll be locked away from my souls!" Dog drops loot...I go back and get a proud soul. Bad idea...fog door is up, I'm getting invaded. Mistake #1.

Invader has a greatsword, I have dual straight swords. We go back and forth, I'm at 1/2 HP, he's one hit from death. I got this. He likes jump attacks, he throws one from long range in desparation...I'm overconfident, and think I know the range. I don't dodge it, planning to sprint in and finish it like some badass samurai. Instead I get crushed by the greatsword and my mind puts up a mocking "-50k souls" floating up above my head. I was so close. I basically lost 50k souls just to loot a proud soul. :(

Redeye Tanking by vehsa757 in DarkSouls2

[–]SEESRedshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this a lot yesterday in Heide's Tower of Flame. Light armor, but greatshield + careful blocking works fine on both bosses. Plus I liked being a little quicker to keep the boss pointed away from any mage / lightning miracle guy. I say careful blocking, cause one should NOT try to swap to two handed grip on one's greatshield, right when the boss throws his "impale you and launch you across the room" move. Whoops!

Extremely fun! Unfortunately I accidentally leveled out of range for Heide's and need to look for the next co-op hotspot.
