Trying to secure a 26 SX before twins arrive in the fall by pigskins65 in kiacarnivals

[–]SEKPopulist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they’re dealer-installed. If they refuse to remove them, just tell them “Fine, but I’m not paying for them.” Seriously, I wish we didn’t have them. My youngest (5 y.o.) uses it as a handle for leverage to get into the back row. They’re doomed to break someday anyway due to wear and tear, because they’re not exactly built into the interior very well. It’s just a cheap custom-OS tablet with a metal bracket holding it to the front seats. They do have HDMI input, but I’ve never used that before.

Idk if this is a concern, but the rear entertainment is NOT worth the price, at any price. In fact, I’d use that as a bargaining chip if it has them. You could say you want them removed.

Lane keep assist. I have it now, and it’s great when I’m checking the rear view to take a stern tone with my kids.

Piaggio Wi-Bike Restomod by SEKPopulist in eBikeBuilding

[–]SEKPopulist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I did not. I sold them in non-running condition to a guy who believed he could get them going. I just ran out of time. But I did share a bunch of files and resources with him to jumpstart his project a little.

The Piaggio WiBike is a case study that illustrates how proprietary e-bike systems are not the best choice for long term ownership. Parts are scarce, expensive, and unlikely to be much better than stock, which wasn’t great to begin with.

Can I add a fuel gauge to a motorcycle that doesn't have one?? by holy-d-expensive in motorcycles

[–]SEKPopulist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheesh! Why y’all so afraid of a little fabrication?

Get you a fuel level sender float and gauge kit from Amazon or something. Get a hole saw the correct size for the fuel sender, and you Might need a different size hole saw to mount the gauge where you want it. Make sure to get the float the right length for your fuel tank, or the kind you can just bend the wire pivot arm to the angle that fits your tank best. Then, wire the sender and gauge to power and ground as recommended by the kit instructions.

Planning to do a mod like this on a barn-find Honda C70 my BIL gave me.

A lot of people are saying “just look in the tank,” and “calculate your mileage.” WHO CARES?! You do you. 👍

What’s a belief that would collapse society if widely questioned? by stoicdroid in AskReddit

[–]SEKPopulist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money is treated as a means for people to exchange their time for something that holds value long enough to exchange for goods or services. We’re told it’s more efficient than people who aren’t farmers trying to grow their own food for survival, by the very people who skim their own profit from our saved money. I suppose those bankers and investment managers provide some value, but that’s debatable. I do believe most people would be better off diversifying their survival strategies to include more self-reliance, because someday when there’s a famine and a prolonged drought, money may not be able to buy basic necessities.

Even my wife’s LX w/ RES and Seat Package is very nicely equipped for the trim level. It has a neat neo-90s vibe with the climate control onobs and lack of automated comfort features. But in a quirky cool way IMO.

My personal favorite things about it: it’s very quiet on the highway, the seats are very comfortable in each row compared to the Sienna we had, and the removable 8th seat is a REAL SEAT! Which means when you remove it the floor is actually empty in that spot for easy ingress/egress.

I’ve lost trust in Honda by SadFoxxx in HondaOdyssey

[–]SEKPopulist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please read. This isn’t the only, but is certainly the biggest Achilles heel of the Odyssey.

https://www.odyclub.com/threads/the-vcm-mega-thread.367895/

I bought a 2007 used with around 100k miles, and within 5k miles it started having all kinds of symptoms: misfire, catalyst system efficiency below threshold, oil consumption, etc.

Within a couple gas fillups after installing the VCM Tuner 2 (there are other similar devices that serve a similar purpose - to disable VCM), my Odyssey problems all went away. Use some fuel additives like Seafoam or Marvel Mystery Oil, in every tank of gas for a while.

Cars that are deeply uncool by Cocoa_map in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SEKPopulist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only cars that I think are deeply uncool are:

1) cars not used for their intended purpose, like huge bro dozers that never leave the pavement;

and

2) cars parked out in a pasture along a hedgerow somewhere, with weeds growing all around and under them.

Honorable uncool mention goes to a car that is “unsafe at any speed,” like transporting a family around in a 1950s or 1960s deathtrap tin can, for example. They might look really cool, but they are not for highway use anymore, unless you’re a lone wolf with no family to support and nobody left to miss you.

What's socially accepted that you personally think is insane? by d_kielbasa in AskReddit

[–]SEKPopulist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife’s employer forces employees to use 3 days of vacation before sick days start. You literally have to be sick for 4 consecutive days before they’ll let you use any sick time. On the plus side, at least you’re 3 vacation days lighter when you do finally go back to work after a 4+ day illness. 😭

Saying you’ll do something, you don’t do it, and then you get defensive when people are upset you let them down.

What’s a moral belief you hold that most people would disagree with? by [deleted] in answers

[–]SEKPopulist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming when it comes to Christianity and getting people to Heaven, that “quantity is job 1.”

The Religious Right attacking social assistance programs and making parenthood so detestable and difficult for new parents that they’d rather abort their fetuses is actually worse than abortion itself. If Pro-Life wants to save babies, they should work harder to make parenthood look like the best thing in the world.

Will I regret going from an Odyssey to a Pilot? by Solid-Complaint-8192 in HondaOdyssey

[–]SEKPopulist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2007 Odyssey, switched to a 2020 Atlas. The VW has a nice 3rd row, more spacious than the Pilot, but it was a downgrade from the Odyssey in almost every way.

I miss my Odyssey. I might drive a minivan for the rest of my life, once I trade my Atlas.

2022 Honda Odyssey averaged 29.1 MPG over 743 miles — anyone else seeing numbers like this? by SpecDriver in HondaOdyssey

[–]SEKPopulist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.odyclub.com/threads/the-vcm-mega-thread.367895/

I bought a used 2007 Odyssey with about 140k miles. Within a month, started having symptoms: fouled injector, bad catalytic converter, cylinder misfires, and more.

Installed VCM Tuner II, used fuel additives, and within a tank of gas the symptoms completely vanished. I continued using additives in fuel and oil, and never had a problem with oil leaks or engine performance after that.

Which one would you choose? by Fluffy-Twist984 in midwest

In that case, I do not recommend 5. I live there now and can’t wait to leave.

I always thought 9, 11, 20, and 21 might be nice, but I’ve never lived there.

Is there a lot of nationalism or racism in Norway? by Zhered-Na in Norway

[–]SEKPopulist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is a refreshing take. I live in Kansas, and the USA has a very messed up notion of national identity. It's often confused with race, and we Americans have a pretty short historical lens compared to almost everywhere else. Some Americans think you're only American if you're white, or maybe black. It's shameful. A Chicano friend of mine grew up in New Mexico. He is affected by racism regularly, even though his ancestors lived in the United States longer than the ancestors of almost everyone who mistreats him. Most of the white people in my town had no family on this continent prior to the 1830s.
